If anything, the internet has significantly improved the quality of my life. I can order cheap drugs to my doorstep. I can watch pornographic films for free. I can download any media I want. I can play games with people from around the world. Screw being an astronaut.

(the internet is the #1 facilitator in perpetuating my addictions... I guess you could call that a negative.)

The excessive negativity coming from anonymous people online.  We know all it takes is a uniform to influence people's behavior in a real life situation.  Multiply that by 10.

The constant stream of memes and bad jokes that follow the philosophy that repetition makes humor somehow better.  Makes it difficult to enjoy something in the way it was intended when people are more interested in finding meme-worthy material than seeing the whole picture.

The fact that "any press is good press" rings more true today than ever before.

I think computers kind of stunted my life. I spent much of my teenage years playing games on my own, sometimes with friends. I was an addict. It caused me to become very socially anxious and quite weird overall. It took a lot of time to get things right and catch up to my proper mental age.

I think computers can ruin lives. I've been around a lot of REALLY nerdy people and it fucked them up pretty bad. Some of them weren't even emotionally developed, they were almost childish. I think this happens a lot actually. It's sad.

On the contrary...

A wealth of information in my pocket.

Communication with people from all over the world and the ability to meet new friends and like minded people who I'd otherwise never knew existed, (including but not limited to the Shroomery ).

A trove of opportunities and convenient utilities & services for almost anything a person needs.

Does the internet ruin my life?

Good: I've been able to download endless amounts of information.  Books, speeches, music, videos.

Bad:  Information overload.

Ugly:  Completely desensitized by the internet.  If a random man were to take a shit in front of me at broad daylight, I would not at all be surprised.  If someone's head spontaneously exploded in the middle of my meal at a restaurant, I would continue eating, shrugging it off.

The Internets helped me realize what a shitty place I live in and the fact that I need to start a better life ASAP. That alone, is invaluable to me.

Social media has not caused, but merely facilitated the destruction of many of my relationships with people, whether family or friends.

It's not the internet or the computer that is negative or bad, it is the mistakes of the person using the devices.

I think internet communities and social media give people false senses of identity and camaraderie.  They feel satisfied socially and seek out real relationships less.  Makes it lonely out there for guys like me who have trouble connecting with disembodied personalities online.

I tend to get distracted VERY easily on the internet... that's one downside.

But there are plenty of upsides too. I've learned about so many different things and have had access to a variety of topics that would have otherwise never have been introduced to me. I'm pretty confident to say that, without the internet, I wouldn't know about how much I don't know. I'm now more aware of how much I'll never know.

I'm now chained to a concrete pillar while I get savagely beaten every hour until I make a Shroomery post.

The upside: A lot of useful information to be found online, and easy access to a plethora of drugs.

The downside: Also a lot of complete bullshit info to be found online, and easy access to a plethora of drugs.
