Agar in a SAB - GE filter needed? attempt #1

So i've got agar, LME, and those really small short wide-mouth 4-oz mason jars.
I will PC 6 no-pour dishes.
I know that the jars won't break under pressure without a filter in the lid, but if there is a vacuum in the jars, won't opening them up draw in air and increase chances of contamination?
I've been using polyfill filters in 1/4inch hole for years. I know it is not ideal, but I've had no problems and it's always worked great for me. Is that really bad for agar? (i could see the agar boiling up and getting stuck to the polyfill, but I can leave minimal polyfill hanging down from the hole, and be sure to bring the temp/pressure up and down gradually.)
I've got some synthetic filter discs, but no silicone... is there a good way to use those without attaching? what if i used 2 jar lids both with a hole in the center, and put the SFD in between them, then closed the lid ring over both of them to fasten it all together? would that be best?

are these even what should be used? I got them thrown in an old trade... i assume they're good sfd's? or is it just filter paper for a buchner funnel or something?

i haven't had any issues using polly, just trim it with scissors first

The Whatman papers are just that - paper.

why would someone give me filter papers in a mycology trade? What uses do they have with mycology?
I could use them to filter solids in a tincture... but i don't have a vacuum aspirator so that would take too long...

I'm going to try a first batch, but damn I guess I only have 4 small jars good for no-pour agar.
how much water+agar+lme should i mix for 4 4-oz mason jars?
250ml water 5g agar agar 5g light malt extract?
some recipes say to use a 10g LME with 8-9g agar, some suggest the other way around, with 9g LME with 10g agar.
what is good for the no-pour agar teks, i'm sure technique has been refined over the years, and it sounds like we want to avoid pooling water, so maybe more agar is good?

Not sure exactly how much you'll need, but I'll tell you 4 plates isn't enough to work with.
For 1L of agar, you should use somewhere around 20-25g of agar and weigh out your LME to around 2% concentration by weight. Assume water is 1 g/ml.
