Chlorociboria aeruginascens
    #19270433 - 12/13/13 11:55 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I found a good sized branch of Chlorosplenium aeruginosum Chlorociboria aeruginascens (blue oak) about 4 years ago and brought it home. It has fruited every year that I have had it so far. I decided to put it under the scope today.

That's pretty cool, thank you. I am waiting on my micrometer still. When it gets here I will be sure to measure spores. Macroscopically they are definitely blue fading to white blue with a central stipe.

Must have been a Typo up top. I did mean Chlorociboria aeruginascens

Chlorosplenium aeruginosum was a former name, maybe you just copy pasted the wrong one without looking too close?  Could you check the tomentum then?

Quote:

Tomentum on upper surface delicate and composed of smooth, worm-like cells (C. aeruginascens), or more prominent and composed of roughened cells that look like spiny worms (C. aeruginosa).

Copy paste fail is exactly rite. I need to slow down, I tend to be one who jumps the gun. (still working on self defects)

I am still noob to the scope and am lacking a few essentials. I tried a few specimen and could see from the top of the pileus that the tomentums look smooth. I could not get a clear pic I'll keep trying and post one if I can get it. I don't have any stains as of yet. I tried some food dye and the clarity was worse.

Thank you for the lesson.

It took a minute to soak but I added yellow food dye to ISO. Are these what we are looking for? This is from the margin looking down at the pileus at 1000x
