i found these on a down hardwood after a few good days rain. they are very young and the pictures were not taken with the intention of getting an i.d. i apologize for how bad they are. im guessing hericium. thanks in advance!

Hericium coralloides

They (Hericium)are all delicious in my opinion.

hell yes! i knew i should have picked a few. i would love to clone all the local edibles i find but im still learning a lot about identification so i never commit to disturbing them. this is one of my favorite spots for sure. we really went out there to find a patch of chants i found earlier this year. these were growing with 50 yards of that spot.

I think its too cold for the chants right now... but that's an awesome find!

They can get quite a bit bigger, and grow pretty slow.  Keep an eye on them and harvest when the time is right.  :grin:

Sounds good guys. i know there are a lot on those logs so i will go back this sunday. thats exactly a week from the day those pictures were taken. i will bring a better camera this time.
