Just found a bigass cactus at my neighbors house and asked took a fat cutting, is this thing active?

Looks like a Cereus most likely. Not active.

Don't neglect it though,or toss it because of that fact.All cacti need love active or not:grin:and I would Love to have a nice phat healthy cereus like that.Mine is tiny!

And besides, if it sets roots you'll have the mother of all stocks to graft a fat Loph onto.

Yeah, Cereus. I'd plant it, but wouldn't use it as a host for grafts though as I find their growth to be far slower than other species. That said, I nicely sized established plant gives off some nice flowers throughout the year.

Really, you can eat Cereus fruit? I've only ever eaten prickly pear and to be honest, wasn't that impressed, specifically considering the pain associated with picking and cleaning the bastards. Better gloves, I think were required.

I love prickly pear fruits,and I've eaten those dang things until I've gotten a stomach ache before!
