Is this trich?

I have a tray in my monotub, been there since the 5th. A day or two ago I noticed my first pin; I now have about 6 or so visible pins/small fruit bodies.
Just now I noticed this patch of white along one edge. It's noticeably brighter and denser than the rest of the surface, as you can see, which has me inclined to assume it's trich. On the other hand, it looks a little fuzzier than other trich I've encountered.

Of course, I scooped it out right away with a sanitized spoon, but I know that once you see this shit there's not much to be done.
Side note, I was surprised to see how brown and "uncolonized" the inner area looks. This is BRF to coir/verm. Spawned 11/24.
So, am I fucked?

quite possibly Trichoderma but the rest of the mycelium looks rather grey as well, I would say that you should consider isolating/removing that box from your grow area

So obviously, I was not able to contain or beat back this infection. Bright white continues to spread from the area and it definitely looks like other trich I've had. It's not turned green yet.
The rest of my tray continues to pin and grow. Some fruits are over an inch high now.
So my question is, is there any reason NOT to let this flush finish and get what I can out of it before discarding the tray? From what I've read, even if some trich or its spores get on or near the fruits, that's not necessarily going to be unhealthy (for a human).
In other threads I've seen, the answer is always "toss it" -- and unlike the last tub of mine that caught mold right as pinning started, right now I figure it's too cold out to bury this outside and hope for anything. Can anyone offer a compelling argument as to why I can't just let it ride?
By the way, this tub is by itself right now, so I do not have to worry about it cross-contaminating something nearby.

IMHO this piece of trich infection was removed before sporulating. When it does sporulate, that's when it turns green.
edit: Just forgot to add that if it's spreading, that's because that area was already infected. That stuff spreads fast and you need to widen the radius of action and cut a little bit more than you did. It is also possible the cause of more contamination is due to trich spores being already present and germinated as conditions became available. This is a continuous process and ruins a crop.

As you spot the trich going green, then you have to pick them. So, the soon you pick them, the better. Make sure you dry them asap.
Btw, try using salt on the infected areas. It usually slows down the infection.

Thanks for the responses MAIA.
In addition to cutting out that section, I went ahead and took a couple small plastic cups and pushed them down into the surface adjacent to the hole, in case that would help cut off any sub-surface infection and also keep some spore activity contained. There's a little area between one cup and the wall of the tray where I'll also sprinkle some salt. I realize that the battle against trich is a losing one; I just want to slow this down enough to hopefully get an OK flush.
I am curious why you say the fruits should be picked when the trich goes green. What happens then? Even if some trich spores get on the fruits, that's not necessarily harmful to humans, correct? (Also, I figured I could dip the fruits in some sanitizer [Iodophor] before drying them out.)

The reason is that, if trich spores are attached to the fruits, they will germinate if you don't dry them fast. You want to decrease all chances of that to happen.
The sanitizer idea is a good one
