Cisco Packet Tracer problem

Not sure if I'll even get a response to this, but I figured I might as well try.
When one is configuring a fully specified static route it goes destinationnetwork subnetmask exit-interface next-hop-ipaddress
But Packet Tracer says "Invalid input detected at marker" and points to the exit interface. I double checked my syntax, and looked on some Cisco help pages and the syntax is correct.
I'm aware that some features on real routers and switches don't work on PT, but you'd think this would be one of them no?

I can try to help could you codebox the error ? I don't know much about Cisco but from what you posted the problem seems it would be in your subnetmaask. or even before that. I got nothing but time tonight so I would not mind doing some looking around for you.

network is 201.20.198.0 and mask is 255.255.255.0, so it all checks out. Class C non subnetting with the appropriate subnetmask. It says my error is the exit-interface of the router, but its the correct one. When I use the exit-interface without a next-hop address, it works. But when I combine it with a next-hop address it breaks.
But on netacad.com (the site where I take Cisco courses) their own syntax check says this is the right way to go!

are you running static. ? This seems to be where you need to look. Like I said I don't know much about Cisco but I can read and this is a lot like your problem. http://networking-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=18476

I'm trying to configure a static route.
To do that you go into privileged exec mode (enable command) Then global configuration mode (configure terminal) then use the ip route command.

I dumped my Cisco wizard hat... vShphere and M0n0wall, the only way, unless you want to pay, and pay, and pay... for problems.

Lol vSphere and M0n0wall are good and all, but just using that makes you nothing more than a script kiddie.
Sure Cisco is expensive, but the knowledge they teach is valuable.

Well, they wouldn't do very much all alone...
I think Cisco is a standard, like Windows. The comparison is quite apt actually, in many ways.

They wouldn't do much good all alone but your post made it seem like Cisco was all junk :P
Sure Cisco is a "Standard" but it is incredibly useful, the knowledge they teach will help for quite a few years. They have many quality courses that are well worth the money imo.
