Ganoderma side effects.

Yesterday I finished up 2000 ml. of double extraction via Forrester's tek. Starting with 100 proof vodka, it came out to 1100 ml. of tincture which I mixed with 900 ml. of decoction for 27.5% ABV.
Last night I took about 1 cc, which is just 1 eyedropper full, after dinner/before bed. Did the same dose this morning.
Today I experienced sore muscles, achy skin (like when you have the flu) and waves of nausea. I read that when you first start taking reishi, it basically de-tox's you, releasing all the toxins in your blood vessels and colon etc. and that these symptoms will go away in a few days to a week.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar? How long did it last? I realize it is also possible that I am actually getting the flu, but it seemed too convenient that it's the exact same time I started taking the extract.

You're probably getting the flu. I'm a fairly toxic person and when I take reishi I actually experience mood elevation and an energy boost.
Then again, it can effect people differently! I've also never taken such a concentrated dose, I usually eat it or make tea.

Strange, that's a pretty small dose too! We all do 2.5ml/day. I've given tinctures to a lot of family and friends and nobody has had anything like that happen. I have heard of it detoxing you, but not with such side effects. Maybe stop taking it, see if the symptoms go away, and try again in a week?

Good to know, thanks guys. I'm not having any trouble breathing or rashes or anything, so I'm not really concerned that it's an allergic reaction, so yeah I'm leaning towards flu at this point as well.
I'll post updates when I'm feeling better. This sucks..

If I have taken to much mushrooms extract I get upset stomach and these "detox" side effects. Take even smaller doses and work your way up; as long as your not allergic or something.

We sell a fair amount of extract and often advise buyers to start off with a low dose and work their way up to the higher dose over 1-2 week period. Some people have intense "detox" reactions to reishi (especially people who sell pesticides!).
I have experienced these detox effects but they seem to wear off after 3-4 days of use. Another common reference in books is that long term use of extract leads to dry nasal passages which can sometimes cause an itchy nose or even bleeding, I had the same problem and would stop using reishi one month in six. But I decided to just keep on trying and the itchy nose problem went away after about 2 weeks.
But mostly listen to your body and what works best for you

I know in my research it is something you should work your way into. Large dosages when you haven't taken any can definitely cause nausea.
Sounds like sulumvita hit the nail on the head.

I feel great now, thanks! I haven't taken another dose yet though. I'm pretty sure it was just a stomach flu because the day I got over it my nephew came down with the same thing.
I'm in the process of moving and all that so once I get settled in I'll resume taking the extract.

Well, I've been taking the extract for several days now and I feel great! I always notice a lift in my mood right after taking it, very pleasant.
