If you are looking at the close up of the tiny pins, then sadly I have to inform you that was right before a 3 day vacation and I overwatered beforehand and about 40% of the pins aborted but the other pics of the same bin show the successive 2 flushes, and more pins are coming out of that plastic bin.
The containers all have different mixtures of materials. Started with douglas fir chips colonized, with alot of debris, in march. I mixed in these ingredients in different combinations: aspen bedding hickory chips mesquite chips oak chips redwood chips alder chips alot of little sticks from various trees alot of unknown chips grass clippings ( ) sunflower seeds and thistle seeds vermiculite a little soil and finally, yes, they are cased in the coco coir is from my pet frogs after they sat in it for a year pooing out digested fish and cockroaches I fed them. half of them have clean coco coir actually, because I was worried the poo would dissuade pins.
I also planted wildflower seed mixtures in most of the beds, and planted some lawn moss in one of them which the myc seems to really like.
When I eat them I look over at my , and im like
I already have eaten 2 oz of these in the past month. I use 20 mg of melatonin every night to lower my tolerance to psilocybin and sometimes I add some chocolate beforehand so I dont waste as much shrooms. This way I have mindblowing trips every 3 days or so with like 4-10 grams depending on what I have to do the next day.

<<<THIS<<< is about as close as I've come to any mushrooms recently. This season has been non-existent for me (so far)

Horrible... just Harrible. Its so dry here ive only seen like 10 galerinas... I probably grew more cyans and allenii in my yard than all the wild fungi ive seen here this season.
We need some and , not the little frozen ive been finding.

Personally this was the best year I've ever had for actives, you folks need to check those irrigated spots better!

Well that just sounds like you are gloating. It seems pretty apparent this is a shitty year. Thanks for making us feel like -;) Ran-D.

As far as other mushrooms go (which is what I really care about) it most definitely has been a terrible year. I sit here bumming every day because I can't hit the forest and go hunting.

I went to humboldt for a few days in october in the middle of when they started freaking out about the drought, and everything was still green and it was wetter than after all the rainstorms of a peninsula winter...mushrooms all over but i didnt find any actives. Srsly, I dont even want to think about what a NOT DROUGHT is like up there. Lol. The past 2 years I have watched the annual grass populations evolve radically quickly because 95% of the seeds grow after a tiny rain fall we get in late september both years, and then like 2 months of dry kills them all. Thus, only the mutated, delayed germinating grass strains survived. And they will be lucky enough to have a huge realestate this year, because all their typical peers are dead! Fields of grass around here with like one blade every 3 feet. Soo, next year we will have some monsoon in october probably and no grass will grow at all most likely. Global drying = mudslides.

No, redwood may be a bit slower than alder but you I think mean cedar and pine. Cedar being too acidic I was told and pine too sappy, which I have seen blocking myc. Since redwood is much denser, I think it probably contains more nutrients for the myc to eat. I will never know since it is mixed with so many other chip types. I actually planted some cyanescens myc in some cedar mulch near the beds and it grew, in 4 months with little water it probably occupied a 5 inch wide area, but just thin and threadlike rhizomorphs, not thick vast white sheets like with hardwood.
I think since redwood is so dense it may be impossible for the myc to penetrate it deeply like it can with softer wood. This is why people might consider it bad especially if the redwood piece is large, not chipped. Then it would be impossible for myc to break down.

Here are a few pics of some of the actives that Ran-D mentioned were out there all along. The jumbo size fruits with the quarter next it for size reference. That group was found 2 weeks ago when Ran-D was insisting they were still out there. The group with the pink base were found a little less than 4 weeks ago and are the ones in the two habitat shots. If you look at the picture you can see that many of the mushrooms seem to be hidden and blend in with the colors of the scenery. How many can you find in each pic? I counted 5 in one picture and 11 or 12 in the other. Nevertheless, I hope we get some rain soon.

10 day forecast has 0% chance of rain. Hope the weather man is wrong.
