It varies by strain, but shiitake can really be done in either. Drops in temp will initiate pinning, but after that they can be fruited just fine in a fairly warm area, I've done 'em in summer.

i dont know much about shiitake, but there are warm, cold, and wide temp range strains. i've got some cold and wide range (s75) strains consolidating right now.

Do you guys use different strains in your GH? i had good success with yellow oyster

i put in some Blue Oyster and have different results looks like the blue need more FAE then the yellows did.

i wonder why the yellows did ok and the blue are leggy. the caps seem to be getting a little bigger but i think they should be harvested soon. i tryed letting more FAE in my GH but i came home to having the RH @ 40% or so and dryed the mushrooms out stalling the growth of my yellows i got going.
i got the GH unzipped from the bottom shelf to half of the other shelf to try and give it proper FAE and keep RH high. also have opening from the PC fans i got in there which should give some FAE aswell.
has anyone else had trouble with two dif oyster strains in same FC?
also from looking at other peoples blue oyster grows seem like they tend to be more leggy the other oysters & relatively have smaller caps to begin with, is this fairly true from your experience?

the blues where on a shelf above the yellows. i recently moved the blues down on the shelf the yellows where on, they seem to be forming some cap size now. im guessing where ever there is a block ill have to unzip the zipper to that shelf & adjust ultrasonic time to keep good RH.
