Brown dusty stuff on casing, mold?

Allright I have this brown dusty looking stuff on my casing. What is it? Should I be worried? Are my shroomies safe to eat still?
Grow timeline: -6 1/2 pint brf cakes -Dunked for 24 hrs and crumbled -Cased in a 50/50 mixture with hydrated lime -First flush was poor, about 2 grams dry. Had 20+ mushrooms but they were all tiny. I was told it was probably because of dry substrate -Noticed white dusty stuff on casing, figured it was mycelium -Filled up my tray with water for 24 hours then drained the best I could -White dusty stuff was gone -2nd flush is starting, mushrooms are a better size but still small -Brown dusty stuff shows up -Me worried

I'm sorry the picture isn't better. I only have a camera on my phone.

You would probably get more informed posts from the Contam forum, but I can tell you that myc is not dusty.
Did you pastuerize your casing mix?
Try wiping it with a q-tip. If it comes off it's def not myc.
But lime is white dusty stuff so who knows? (RR of course!)
Sorry I can't be of more help.

If you'll post your picture here, I'll take a look. I don't want image shack placing their spyware on my machine. RR

Is that better? I just post links by habit rather than embedding it.

Yeah I said it wasn't the greatest pic. The girlfriend is letting me use her camera tonight, so there will be a better pic up tomorrow morning or so.

Yea, take an in-focus picture. Imageshack puts spam, popups, and spyware on our computers, so please don't use them here. Most members would prefer not to have their surfing habits traced and recorded. RR

Here are a few more pictures using a better camera.
The white stuff in the center of the third pic is the dust before it turns tan colored. I was poking at the stuff with a q tip yesterday and rubbed it all off in that area.
I am sure that this must be a mold of some sort. I am just wondering if these shrooms are safe to eat? This is my first grow and I was really hoping to try the fruits of my labor, pun intended, but I don't want to eat something safe or more importantly have my girlfriend and a friend or two eat something unsafe.
Thanks

It is mold, but won't impact the mushrooms. Cut them off above the substrate/casing line and discard the tray. The fruits will be fine. RR

Thanks for the help, that makes me feel much better! I'm assuming I would be safe to just let it finish out the flush too? I mean there is nothing else in the terrarium that could get infected. And I probably won't be even using the terrarium again because I am moving to monotubs. And please don't get offended by this, I am just trying to help. Imageshack doesn't put any spyware on your computers. If you click ads you might get spyware but that is true everywhere. And if there is a direct url to the image there won't be any ads to click since you are only seeing the picture in the browser. If you want more privacy your best bet is to turn off all embeded images on the forum and then copy and paste the url into a new browser window. The reasoning behind this is that if an image in embedded (just showing up in the post rather than a url or link) it automatically loads on your browser, and it can be logged where the image is showing up. For example there could be a log somewhere that says that image_blah_blah was loaded at url http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showthreaded.php?Number=*whatever* . Also when a link is clicked it tells them where they were referred from. So you when you click a link on this site that sends you to another site, that other site can see and log the fact that you came from here. So the best thing to do for privacy is shut off all images loading automatically, then copy and past urls to images in another browser window or even urls to other pages. I am a member of a couple security forums and that is how things are done there, you are not allow to post a hotlink or embed images. Because if people clicked on them then there would be a log of the forum existing. Mind you this is way overkill and no where near necessary, but they were security geeks... what do you expect? :p
I am just letting you know that your worry of getting spyware from imageshack is unnecessary and you are safe using them I will of course oblige and do it this way if you prefer though. Is there any hosting site you guys prefer here rather than them? Photobucket maybe?
Cheers, Nem

Image shack does place spyware on our machines. No less than six cookies are installed every time you click on an image shack link. Not only that, it automatically starts up outlook express on every computer I've ever clicked their link on. Both norton and mc afee flag three of their cookies as spyware.
Simply upload the pictures to your photo gallery here directly from your hard drive. Don't use third party hosts please. RR

Question regarding this type of mold. Is there any way to combat it, and if so are the mushrooms going to be okay for consumption? This mold hit my casing after the allotted time for mycelial establishment into the casing layer. No pins or fruits have appeard, is the casing going to be alright or does it need to be discarded?
