effectiveness of pressure cooking.
    #19265486 - 12/12/13 12:09 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I pressure cooked my jars for my first grow and everything turned out great. I am now pressure cooking my second set of jars, however i was not quite as meticulous with my sanitization during the prep of my jars.

Does pressure cooking ensure 100% contam free jars?

If you pressure cook for the right amount of time yes everything is sterilized. If you're talking about PF tek jars, and say you maybe forgot to wipe the upper portion of the jar where the dry verm layer goes..that moisture can lead to contams, just be careful not to tip the jars or turn them upside down. Innoc and forget about em til fully colonized :P

Nah i did everything perfect (even that). I was just a little bit lazy with sanitation i used clorox spray on everything at first but as i was going i touched random things which werent sanitized.
I also grabbed the verm in my hand for the top layer: tongue:

It's alright man, you could mix the verm and brf with your bare hands and not even clean your jars (not a suggestion just sayin) and still have perfectly good jars after PCing. Just make sure your mixture gets to field capacity and not too wet. Golden

You're right I forgot the brf added lowers the ratio of water to sub. Been awhile on PF tek!

I'm actually using ground wbs right now as an experiment.
gonna knock em up tomorrow, then spawn to coir.
is that a good idea?
