Does anyone else give their quart jars a good shake right after they knock them up using wbs?

it depends. when using an LC i always shake them very well, but when using spores i don't shake them at all.

I used ms. I only used about 7-10 drops in each quart. So I gave them a good shake to try an press it out. Now I've read that was a mistake . I hope I didn't screw myself

Yeah, you need two spores to germinate and form a dikaryite(sp) so the closer they are together the faster the growth. With a LC or agar you already have a dikaryite(sp) so distribution is the best method. With LC I put 5cc in a jar, shake it, and it's colonized in a week roughly.

Is there a chance they will not colonize because of this, or does this just slow down the process

I would argue that it's going to depend on the quality of your spore syringe. The syringes that I make myself have a higher spore load per cc of water. And I usually squirt a little extra.
If I'm trying to stretch out the remainder of a syringe over several jars, I won't shake for the first 3-5 days. Otherwise, I shake vigorously.
Spores clump together, so shaking the jar isn't going to distribute them to the point where they never link up. It just might slow it down.

If you started with spores. I would personally use like 0.25CC right in the middle. Let it germinate and get to about a golf ball size then give it a small shake let it get to ~30% and give another shake and let it finish up.
If you start with LC I would shake right away.
If you start with agar don't shake let the mycelium grow off of the agar this way you can spot contams easily too. Once it's about the size of a golf ball do a small shake let it get to about 30% and shake again.

i wouldn't even shake with a lc, you may just burry any contams that you may have spotted otherwise. mind you i only use lc's for exotics so i just do a 360 inoculation anyway
