Reaserch for outdoor grow.

I know it's awhile away but while waiting on my first grow I've been researching outdoor grows for this summer, I have a few idea's and would like to hear others grows, or some links to threads with pictures.
Right now this is my plan. make 4 8x8 holes in the ground each 6in deep, line the holes with newspaper, then add 50/50 poo/straw substrate and put colonized balls of newspaper on it. then cover with more 50/50 and lay cardboard over it.

why not make a few quarts of spawn for this patch for inoculation.
think about using a woodloving species as they tend to stick around. especially if you get a cold loving one (P. friscosa ) that can stand the winter in your area (if you have one) or a warm loving species like Azures that will come back year after year. all you have to do is add more wood chips.

seeing as I'm still on my first grow, I wanted to stick with cubensis for awhile,
Far as spawn my plan is to take 1 pound bag of colonized rye berry and mix it with a big bowl of newspaper balls soaked in hpoo water/coffee let it colonize, then add it to the holes and layer with 50/50.
-For the newspaper balls I saw a thread were someone on this site grew b+ on just newspaper soaked in water, thought it would be a good way to make more spawn out of just a little with a object thats easy to obtain.

you would see mushrooms doing this provided weather is correct for ya!. good luck and keep us posted. i recommend also getting a block of coir to spawn with the seed. cubes like coir. use your newspaper method as you have seen as it sounds like it should work.

Thanks man, I buy my indoor stuff pre-made and was thinking of going to the pets store for some coir just for the outside grows.
This is how I plan to do the small 8x8in Patches, There will be 4 in a small group.

The spawn in this case being the soaked newspaper mush. see I don't want to use only rye berry as the spawn because there's wild rodents around.
so I was thinking 10 grams of colonized rye berry to a 1 pound bowl of the hpoo soaked newspaper in this
doing 4 containers and once there colonized use them for the 4 holes.

I decided where the first outdoor bed will be this summer, at the base of a tree in a old flower bed, ima grow some ferns to cover them up and act as a terrarium.
I want to get others on here thinking about there plans for the summer, the outdoor cultivation forum on here hasn't been used in so long it's unbelievable.

I got my first taste of outdoor cultivation late this summer/early fall, can't wait until spring to get a nice full growing season in, especially now that I've learned quite a few basic mistakes that would help out alot. Slugs were always by far my biggest problem, those fuckers probably ate half my patch.

Sweeet
I might invest in some slug pellets or go the cheap way and use some copper wire and rock salt.
