ready to fruit my first mono attempts? all advice welcome
    #19262601 - 12/11/13 08:34 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

This one is ready I think?

This one I'm gonna give a few more days:

This one is just for fun to see how far I can push time limits of pasteurization, also gonna wait a few days:

This is a picture from last week, when I saw it on my phone I swear Agent Smith is in there.  (Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability.)

One week update, some slow genetics but everything seems to look good.  Sub is drier on the ends with the holes, but I suspect that's normal.  Pins are pretty evenly across entire surface, and some side pins too even though I did use a liner.....:mushroom2::confused::mushroom2:

thanks guys.  Here's the other tub, still hasn't really gone crazy but I'm gonna fruit it in a couple days regardless once I have space for it and hope that some light helps move it forward

and the bucket, fruited a few days ago, it was pinning.  IT was in with another bucket getting 12/12 light so I'm not sure if that's why it pinned sooner than it's sister tub, or if the ratio on the tub was off, or if the 72 hour old pasteurized sub forced the pins sooner.

Gotta say thanks again for all the support and help getting into this hobby.  Awesome community!!:headbang3:

first flush total wet: Tub 1410g, bucket 366g

The big cluster was 220g and the largest individual is in the lower left corner of the group photo @ 62g

Quite a family shot to send out as postcards for the holidays!!  Tub 2 put into fruiting last night also.

Kind of late harvesting....Should pick them when the veils first start to tear..

You can mist or water it if you need to.  If it gets too dry it won't fruit right.

If I ever see that happen just pour a few quarts of water on.

Looks like you are doing ok.

I usually water between flushes.

My understanding is first-flush for a mono you harvest all at once when majority of fruits are mature.  After that watering and more daily attention is needed, such as harvesting in stages.  Appreciate the advice, all.

I cut just the caps off when the veils breaks either to stop spores covering the substrate or else to take prints and then let the rest catch up. Each to their own though

Thanks for all the positive vibes everyone.....and I have to comment on this thought, isn't the earlier cutting to avoid spore drop more for vanity / aesthetics than letting the first flush get a little past prime harvest time?  I'm grinding everything into gelcaps so don't really care what they look like, my choice to not open the tub before all fruits were ready was more for efficiency and maximum humidity than for any aesthetic purpose.  But it is a nice picture to have, for sure.

Enjoy your holiday everyone, and best wishes to all in the new year!

Re: ready to fruit my first mono attempts? all advice welcome [Re: SynKyd]
    #19407404 - 01/12/14 08:57 AM (10 years, 19 days ago)

Update: this tub had a quick second flush after the big canopy pictured above, and produced about one dehydrator tray of some very large shrooms but not a lot of them.  That was with daily watering but I didn't really soak the sub after flush one.  Then I did give it a ton of water after the second harvest, and the third flush pinset is really crazy!

Check my trip report for the first flush potency report, it was amazing!

Second tub stalled and dried out so I started daily misting a week ago and it looks like it will give me something, but nothing like this tub is.
