I need help ( ultra beginner )
    #19258286 - 12/10/13 11:58 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hi im new in shroom cultivation and i think i need serious help
I've made my first cakes, everything went great but now the terrarium phase just freak me out! Its been a week since i birth my cake and they are doing nothing else than becoming blue. I know im doing something wrong but i can't figure out what it is. Should i mist them more often? (Actually doing it twice a day ) Should i mist water directly on the cakes or only on the sides of the box? How long should i let them see light in the day? HELP PLEASE SOMEONE

You're doing fine. I see nothing concerning in your pics.

Keep misting, and keep waiting. Its a patient mans sport.

You need not worry about the faint blue color.  The mycelium most likely got bruised when you were popping it out of its jar.

I've seem much darker blue without any problems.  The bruising will heal and you'll have it back to white in no time.  Just make sure to keep misting and insure you have proper air exchange so that the applied mist has a chance to evaporate.

The evaporation of the water off the mycelium will trigger fruits to start forming.

Good luck!

Isn't the container supposed to be elevated off the surface so that cool air can get through the holes on the bottom of the container?  It appears that it's sitting on towels, or am I looking at it wrong?

I see blue, but it's also kind of grey. If it doesn't smell weird i'm sure it's fine, I am just a noob to be fair.

-It is sitting on a towel because the perlite was going down the holes ( made the holes a bit too big )
So i guess i'll just keep misting them and see what happen, thank you guys for the support

Not sure if it's too late for this but they do have "coarse" perlite if you don't have it already.  I just ordered an 18 quart bag of it from amazon.

yep elevate that thing, as long as all your perlite isn't falling through! you can use some sire mesh or something to stop it but elevating is very important

Perlite doesn't come in just one size, if you look or ask for coarse perlite you should be able to get pebble or even small rock sized pieces.

if it feels light like it needs one then yes, if it isn't light then a mist should cut it or even just sitting it in a saucer of water over night
