Growing Oysters on coffee in a sock?

I'm new to the forum, and to growing mushrooms in general. I have one of those oyster kits and was wondering if anyone's ever thought to put coffee grounds in a sock and grow oysters. I thought it would be easy to hang and to keep moist. Any ideas/suggestions?

theoretically it could be done. i feel like using a different substrate would be much more effective for oysters. for example, the standard substrate for growing most edibles consists of hardwood supplemented with wheat bran and calcium carbonate or other additives(remember when adding wheat bran a full sterilization is needed, so if you don't have the means to do this then don't include bran and opt for pasteurization)...
next thing you need to do is worry about colonization and fruiting conditions.
colonizing would be easy enough, do it in a sterile bag, but then you would need to hang it in a green house or fruiting chamber. oysters (strain dependent) enjoy 80f temps at 100% rh and a 50/50 light cycle, so youd have to have your sock of shroom in those conditions to get fruit,
all in all i think your idea is plausible and probably has been done before. but there might be easier ways to do it.

It could maybe be done, but your substrate would likely dry out before it colonized and would be a pain to get a good flush.
Try grocery bags. And you can't use just coffee, use it as an additive. Make sure to use lime to buffer the pH, as coffee is very acidic.
