I've never been so thankful for my life before in my life.

My friend has weight yadda yadda.. I was hanging out there at about 930 and decided to leave because I had to run some errands. At about 10 a clock 3 black guys busted in his door all had guns they put a gun to her head and stole her laptop and Had my friend on the ground at gun point...... (A couple of my friends were there)
What the actual fuck? They might have shot me considering I didn't have shit for them to take.

It's just so crazy. My girl had a gun put to her head......what if I would of been there.
3 guys were armed, they came in and stormed the house and one was outside on the look out. I had just left. I don't think it's the fact that he's careless as it is the area.
I feel bad for my friends but I am so thankful I decided to leave. Him and I were supposed to watch movies a little later alone. What if they came while it was just him and I? I definitely would of gotten shot then.

My friend's house is about 4 miles away from East St. Louis, I however live in a little bit nicer of an area.
I live in the MetroEast St. Louis area.
I'm glad everyone is okay too and that I wasn't there. I wouldn't know what to do with myself.

Yea hopefully your dudes smart. Does he live in one of the more hood areas? If so, that's kinda careless in itself But again, glad everyone's all right! Be safe

This is a situation where a re-enforced door wouldve done a lot more to defuse the situation then pulling out a 44 like the lone ranger wouldve.

I'm not trolling. Another gun in that situation would have made it much more dangerous. It wouldn't have stopped them from murdering anyone. You gun nuts don't really think these things through. In a situation like OP described, having all the weapons on one side is WAY better than both sides being armed. They had the element of surprise. An armed robber doesn't want to use his gun. A gun on the victims side would not have prevented what occurred. It could have precipitated a shoot out.

No, if someone else had a gun and actually knew how to use it everyting would've been cool, most robbers don't really want to kill anyone and they're terrible shots.

As koods pointed out, the robbers had the element of surprise. Good luck shooting them as they burst through the door when they burst in by surprise. Most people don't stand facing the door with a drawn pistol waiting for an attack...

You gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em...
Three guys get the jump on you with guns drawn, probably a good time to realize how much more value your life has than whatever material shit they want to take.
For the record, I had an acquaintance murdered recently in a very similar situation--him and several friends held up in his home at knife point--he alone decided to fight back, he alone was stabbed--luckily the thieves took off without hurting anyone else (witnesses).
Most would be thieves aren't looking to come homicide as well.

newborn – we are tender and weak in death – we are rigid and stiff
living plants are supple and yielding dead branches are dry and brittle
so the hard and unyielding belong to death and the soft and pliant belong to life
an inflexible army does not triumph an unbending tree breaks in the wind
thus the rigid and inflexible will surely fail while the soft and flowing will prevail

I agree, material possessions can be replaced, and I have no issue giving away my wallet if my safety is guaranteed, but there are NO guarantees when violent threats are part of the stealing process.
If someone is attempting to enter my environment for reasons of theft or any other reason (property and home), they will be confronted with a armed person that has the advantage, some things are worth defending and that includes my property and my family, I don't trust criminal thugs.

Safety is never guaranteed. It's called taking calculated risks.
In the situation described in the OP, complying held less risk than resisting.
You seem to be conveniently ignoring the fact that, in this situation, the thieves got the jump on the folks in the home. From the OP description, I don't believe they were sitting around with guns on their laps--on the lookout for intruders--when shit went down.

We are not just discussing the OP's specific case, we are speaking in generalities, every situation is different.
If you want to hang your hat on how the OP's scenario proves that having a gun for self-defense is a bad idea, that is weak.

If someone besides the three robbers had a gun, chances are that OP would be writing about her friend who died in a shoutout tonight.
not neccesarily
All of the cctv videos I've seen a single person defending himself against multiple armed robbers generally involve the robbers getting the fuck out of there as fast as they can, sometimes popping off a few shots in the general direction of the person they are robbing.

Was she selling drugs? Who the fuck kicks someone's door in to steal electronics. If all they were trying to get was just random shit they are 3 dumbasses that will probably end up in prison within a few weeks anyway. I don't want to go off on a racist rant about hood criminals so I will just stop there. Fucking amateur hour...

Actually, the topic of self defense via firearms was instigated by a comment that applications for concealed carry be made--implying that this would have made a difference in the case of the OP.
It seems folks response to this comment was to point out the reckless action that introducing another firearm to the equation would have been. I can't claim to speak for everyone, but I don't believe the intent was for these responses to be applied to all possible situations. The only one speaking in generalities is you, the rest of us are referring to the specific event mentioned in the thread.
If you want to get into hypotheticals, than yes--instances can occur where a firearm can be an effective form of self-defense. I've never denied this, so you can stop trying to paint me as either completely for or against guns--I don't see the world in simple black and white.
But then, back to the specific situation described in the OP, do you feel that them drawing on someone with their finger already on the trigger of a gun aimed at you would be wise?

"The only one speaking in generalities is you"
Yet, Koods said, "Robbers don't want to use their guns. So..Don't give them a reason."
Regarding the OP's scenario, they were at the mercy of the thugs, at that point they can only keep their fingers crossed and hope they survive.

Your friend had weight and didn't have guns within arm's reach at all times? Must not be much weight or your friends are careless. If you're hustling weight, this is EXACTLY why you have a good door and a gun in condition 1 within arm's reach, always.

So when your door gets kicked in you end up going away for 20 years? People that have guns where they sell drugs are fucking stupid. You either get someone else to handle your back or you keep your gun somewhere else in case you need it. No reason 3 dumbasses should be able to get into your house in the first place without giving themselves away. Also, you shouldn't keep most of your loot at your house anyway for obvious reasons either. Of course if you sell to shitty people this type of shit is bound to happen eventually.

I know someone that got robbed via a home invasion and called the cops. They smelled weed, ended up raiding the place and everyone got arrested.

Been held up by 3 mexicans after they broke into a buddies apartment because they thought his girl stole a laptop and dope from them. So its me an 2 dudes from work, and one of their gf's, the "theif" so they they knock. Peep hole is covered. Bust the door down hold me and the other concious friend at gunpoint. The other goes to interigate/beat the shit out of the girl who's bf was passed out. We are struuuung out and don't want to deal with this shit after being up all night. The girl is out cold by now so all 3 guns on us. They decide they want the monster TV in the living room. They wanted us to carry it. Top floor apartment. Walked away with a black eye that day.
Lesson of the story, welcome to the drug world.

Now that I'm at a computer I can type this a lot better hahaha I suck at iphones uhrm..... I was at my friend R'S house. (he is the one who sells drugs) He only had like two o's of pot on him at that moment in time (which is irrelevant) My other friends, S(the girl) and R2 (her boyfriend) were there as well, along with some 16 year old kid who lives there that I never see. My friend R also lives with his 65 year old father.
I left and took R to the store, we were getting cigarillos and gonna roll some blunts but I decided to dip out at last minute and didn't end up going back inside after I dropped him off.
45 minutes later R's dad comes in through the back door because he was coming back from the grocery store. He went to get grocery's and was carrying them in and that's when the men ran in and did that shit.
AND TO TOP IT AT ALL OFF, the guy my sister is married too is a cop and he was the one who did the police report and he knows I was over there.
Him and my parents probably think I'm ronned out since my friend's house hasn't really ever had a good reputation with the police.
I know R has several guns, for those of you who were wondering.
Mainly they got off with an eighth bag of weed, 2 hundred dollars and a laptop.
Not worth it, if it were me going to rob someone.

Id hardly count a QP as weight. That just seems odd for only a couple ounces. Robbery usually comes along with the hard drugs. I'm use to seeing shit like this over coke, dope, pills, never petty amounts of bud.
