ID request (Melbourne) - friend found these growing on fresh laid lawn
    #19257491 - 12/10/13 08:33 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Habitat: Cold/rainy
Where does it grow? Vic/Melbourne

Gills: Light brown gills with dark black in between, spore print looks like watered down charcoal

Stem: Long, thin, white to creamy light brown

Cap: Light brown/creamy with dark brown on cap, varying degrees of dark

Spore print color: Black

Bruising: Brown? Not sure.

Other information: Smells very mushroomy.

Mainly wanting to know if this is something active or poisonous or easy to just leave alone, he doesn't like the idea of his lawn being covered in something dangerous for pets etc. Thanks!

They are a Panaeolus species. If your spore prints are jet black consider Panaeolus cinctulus, If brown-ish Panaeolus foenisecii.

These may be mildly psychoactive, but Panaeolus species aren't dangerous.

Panaeolina foenisecii. They're not active or poisonous.

Much appreciated info guys, he'll be glad to hear that they're not poisonous to the cat or dog.
