Amanita Muscaria ID Request
#19257306 - 12/10/13 07:45 PM (10 years, 1 month ago) |

Habitat: In the woods on the ground near trees in the pacific northwest USA
Gills: White gills
Stem: 6 in, 1 1/2in diam., white, smooth, solid, thick,
Cap: 4in. diameter, red with white spots, smooth,
Spore print color: white
Bruising: none
Other information: I'm pretty sure this is an amanita muscaria but people have said that there needs to be a ring around the base/vulva of the mushroom and I don't think I see one.

Looks like Amanita Muscaria to me. These things are pretty hard to mis-identify.

You just wanted to show it off.

Haha nah I got much better pics than this one lol, I've been hunting them for about a month now found over 40 all dried up already. I was just reading that it's easily to misidentify them with amanita flaviolacta (or however you spell that).
THIS IS SHOWING OFF.

Amanita muscaria and Amanita muscaria subsp. flavivolvata are the same thing from an entheogenic perspective. Your particular finds are subsp. flavivolvata, although the very last photo you provided in your most recent post doesn't look like Amanita muscaria.

Oh really I thought the white spots had just been washed off as it was raining pretty heavily a few days before. I think that one may be mixed in with all the others I had picked...

Here is a better view of that same mushroom I think there is a white spot on the back of it. Would you say this is an amanita?

Ah, that does look better! The ring/skirt looks abnormally low on that specimen, but it looks like you've still got the goods
