Pastywhyte said: Aussie were incredibly tomentose from germination. They are now on there 3rd transfer and starting to look a little better. I am thinking about isolating 6 or so and running a bunch of little tubs side by side.
No growth yet from my purple mystic, hopefully I see germination soon. Made a few transfers from my PE and am hoping to see sectors soon there. Just put some pan cyan Jamaican on agar yesterday to so we shall see how they go.
On a non active note I also got some hericium coralloides and some shaggy mane wild spores on the tetra PDA as well, hope to see something from them soon too
My Aussie was also extremely to tomentose on the first plate. Looked a lot better on the second plate and that's as far as I went. I inoculated 2 masters from the second plate and they're coming along nicely. I'll post a pic when I get home

Yea same with the Aussie on an MS to rye real light fluffy growth. Lol I was freaking out that it was cobweb but since seeing your post I'm sure I'm just being paranoid.
On slightly off topic just got my PC waiting on some parts and agar so I can start a few isolates. I'm waiting for a print of Psilocybe cyans (I believe?). Also some pink buffalo and of course those Aussies I'm gonna be busy I think.

I believe that I managed an isolation last week playing with a MS print to agar. I pulled off a few xfers, with one being very close or perfect isolation. I xfered from that to a few new plates and a chunk to a new master jar.

I am not really sure what is proper method, as I am a "hack" in the mycological field.
When using agar as an inoculation media, is there an accepted method of dropping the wedge?
I have not seen too many threads that actually point out this specific motion.....let me get to my point.
12-18 I inoculated 4 PE jars with nearly identical sized wedges. 2 of them are nearing 100% complete, while the other 2 are nearing the first shake....
What happened? Well, I have been beating the shit out of my jars. Insert agar, and proceed to beat the shit out of your jar. I had one jar that I could clearly tell that agar had smeared around most of the jar. I try to work the wedge to the bottom of the jar by simply banging the whole jar downward. After that I try and get the agar to vanish through repeated beating.
What is even cooler, is that the 2 jars that are nearing completion were NEVER shook after inoculation....They certainly appear like they were. Dunno if anyone has experienced this at all, but if not I recommend.
