Hi shroomery!

So i have no idea why my mushies didnt grow and maybe you guys can help.

Ok, first of all this is what my setup was. I initially had a bigger box but then only ended up with 4 jars colonized so i got a small box and drilled holes in it. Its on a table in an empty room in my house, i ended up moving the lamp closer, almost touching the box. It's a 5,00 kelvin0 50w lightbulb. How close the cakes were to each other

The problem is that the mushies grew a little but then stopped. example one- example two-example three
As you can see, the ended up molding because i never picked them because i was waiting for them to get bigger. In example three i didnt roll that cake in verm after i dunked it (though i did the other two) and it seemed to do better, but they still never grew bigger, and idk if you can tell in the picture but some of them grew off of like, strands of mycelium and not directly from the cake, if that makes any sense, lol.

Some extra info: We misted these around 5 times a day, but i dont think we were over-misting because the drip pan never had a drop of water in it. Initially there was no fan in the room, but i thought maybe the fanning when misting wasnt going to be enough air flow so we moved one in there. I think it might have been too powerful and caused the humidity to go down in the chamber. Idk, im just confused and have no idea why my beautiful little mushies didnt grow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TL;DR- My mushrooms didnt grow right -HALP

remove the fan, dunk your cakes, check your perlite and elevate your chamber so air can come up from underneathe

Yeah i guess the fan didnt help as much as i thought it would. But i still felt like the cakes werent getting enough air cicrulation with just me fanning them when misting. I did dunk my cakes for 24 hours pre-grow chamber. And thanks for the tip, i definitely will elevate it.

sgfc's are meant to work under natural air currents in the room, a fan just drys out tour perlite, the fanning is just to promote evaporation from your mist, by elevating the air can come up from underneathe and as it passes through the perlite it gives you humidity as well as constant passive fae

Is that still applicable if it's in an empty room that I only went in to mist/fan them?
