Flow Hood Help Please

First off this is a great site and I've learned a lot from here and all of you. I have done my research before I asked these questions, but I just want to make sure that I'm correct in my calculations.
The HEPA I'm looking at is 2*4 ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-AstroCel-II-HEPA-Filter-AAF-TI-for-Clean-Room-2-x-4-23-x-47-x-5-25-in-NEW/261318263605?_trksid=p2045573.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D27%26meid%3D3310373726776454284%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D1011%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D190984203258%26 ).
From the calculations I did, I believe I need a fan with roughly 960+- cfm (and that is including the 20% I need to go over in choosing a fan). This seemed like a lot of fan to me so that's why I wanted to get your expert opinions with this.
Also, I'm not sure of the dimensions I need to build this (I think this is called the plenum, but I'm not sure. I'm still learning the vocabulary). I don't want to buy the filter and the fan just to build the hood with the wrong dimensions.
Lastly, should I install sides around the filter? I've seen some flow hoods with and without the sides and I'm not sure if that would help with contamination.
I appreciate all your help and you guys, and this site, is great. If there is ANY other advice you guys would like to tell me please do so. You've all really helped me with my mycology hobby. Thank you all

the plenum should be two to two and a half times the thickness of the filter so 12 to 16 inches deep. this would make the entire box 18 to 22 inches deep if you include the filter. Those filters are designed to be used in overhead filtration units with small blowers.. We use a similiar one to create positive pressure in the lab. However, the filter will work as a flow hood filter, you will just have to experiment around with it to get the correct laminar flow. You are going to need a pretty big blower for that. Check with zoro tools. they have the best prices on dayton squirrel cage blowers which is what you will want to use with free shipping.
