tiny prints
    #19226767 - 12/04/13 01:42 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

well i ordered a pan cyan print from a sponsor and upon recieving it i was stoked, looked to be a decent size print, until yesterday when i took it to my sab and opened it up just to find inside the fisrt foil a tiny piece of foil cut to the size of about a dime with the tiny print on it, wtf do i do with this? i have a couple plates ready but can't imagine how i would use my loop on such a tiny piece of foil without it moving around seeing as i got no room to hold the print down:shrug:
normally i can take my inoculation loop and hold the print down byu the corner of the foil while i rub the print in a circular motion but this method may be impossible this time

Pans have tiny caps, therefore they have tiny prints.
Ever try to mess around with an ATL#7 print? Same "problem."
Just do your best to scrape some spores onto some agar.

i know the prints are tiny but normally there on a decent size piece of foil, this one was cut smaller then a dime right around the print. maybe i can stick a saftey pin through it to hold it down?

Yeah TL, I was confused as you were but it makes sense now. There's just zero holding space without touching the print itself

I'd just hold it with my gloves & not worry about touching the print a bit.

touch your heated loop to the agar first to cool it then touch your print so you have something to "grab" the spores with.

next, using a twisting/turning motion, lift the loop off the print and touch your agar.

heat and repeat.

I'd do both.

made my first transfer tonight! was basicly just a blind transfer though, everything was pretty even and all looked the same so i made 4 transfers with one plate and i'm letting the others grow out, lost one to a contam that happened which couldn't be saved:mad:
kinda fucked now though as i got no dishes left to make transfers and no money for agar for about 2 weeks......what to do now:nutkick:
