Could you essentially just leave them stacked until late summer/early fall, them spread them out for fall fruiting? I made up some dowels last year. Will they fruit from logs, our should I just use the dowels to spawn chips? I have enough to do both.

In a perfect world you have a big load of chip spawn by April and you make a patch then. And if your lucky it is established enough for a fall fruiting.

Sometimes that doesnt happen and you wait til the following fall.

Thats why you could easily generate spawn all spring summer and make epic patches in September and then wait a year and get fruits then.

All this stuff takes time.

Although if were talking SRA, I have made patches March 1st and had summer fruits.

I've got plenty of culture going from that SRA print you sent me, btw. Got four blocks I'm trying to fruit now, and two more waiting to go into outside beds (with the others) once it warms up.
