http://azurescenssociety.wordpress.com/spawn/
Spawn
Spawn is mycelium om a suitable medium which is in it growing fase. Starting a patch with spawn is very chill and easy.
You don’t have to use steriel conditions, you don’t have to make use of a pressure cooker and you don’t have to spend money on equipement.
Making more spawn with spawn has the same chillness as starting a patch. Just add more hydrated suitable woodchips and mix it up. Thats all!!! Working with azurescens spawn is very dummy proof.

oh boy hmmmmm, your idea off don't have to use sterile conditions is non sense, always use sterile procedures, and it's far from as simple as"sticking it in the fridge" for best results agar-grain-woodbased sub-outdoors

sterile conditions yes sir but once the mycelium is strong it can keep off invaders ..
do you think there is more than a cold shock for fruiting ? cold wind maybe ?

Yeah, a lot of long-time members think that grow was bullshit, myself included. And no one to my knowledge has been able to replicate it, ever.

To be OMC-famous for a bit.
That grow is still talked about, regardless of whether it is true or not.
So in that sense, he succeeded.

this people of azurescens society are from the netherlands .this is what they say:
Since cultivating this mushroom from spores is more complicated than other species, the Psilocybe azurescens is more suitable for experienced growers.
Once you’ve got the mycelium growing in the garden bed, it’s realy very easy to maintain.
Standard spawn medium: Sawdust/bran or rye grain Fruiting substrate: lots of different woodchips. Optimum temperature during colonization: 18 – 22 ° C Temperature during cropping: 10 – 15 ° C (outside) Humidity: > 90%

They started with wild spawn. It is incredibly easy to grow out wild spawn without sterile procedure and fruit it outdoors. Growing from spores or trying to fruit indoors with woodlovers is a completely different story.
Spores > agar > grains > outdoor woodchip bed in the spring would be the prefered method starting with spores and does require sterile procedure.
