Greetings!

Hello all,

I will admit, I have been a lurker here for a while, and I decided that I needed to take the plunge into membership-hood. You all seem like a wonderful group of people, and I am very excited to be a part of this community. I have learned a lot from lurking here, and hopefully as I experiment with growing legal mushrooms, I will be able to return some insight to the community!

"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants."
    -Isaac Newton

As for myself, I am pursuing a major in math (and eventually a doctorate) with hopes of attempting the Riemann Hypothesis (for anyone who knows what that is). I have various odd hobbies such as playing the snare drum in a highland pipe band and performing sleight-of-hand, close-up magic.

On a philosophical note, I am interested in figuring out the true nature of reality and existence. Is existence binary, with things either existing or not existing (which would make them not "things"), or is there a colorful, analog spectrum of existence? Perhaps there are forms of existence that supersede our perceived existence, and likewise, perhaps there are forms of existence beneath what we consider "nonexistence". Alongside these hidden forms of existence could lay various intermediate forms of existence, neither wholly existing nor wholly not existing. If one can simultaneously understand existence and nonexistence or the spectrum of existence, does he or she understand reality, or is reality something more fundamental than the whole of existence?

Clearly, what we perceive as reality on a day to day basis does not even begin to scratch the surface of the true order of reality. Perhaps this is because we are too constrained to our notion of solely existing. Similarly, what is the true focus of reality? Should we believe that the universe, with matter and energy governed by the laws of physics, constitutes what is real (which could be extended to a multiverse), or should we accept that the only thing that we as individuals can claim with absolute certainty is that we are conscious (anything outside of the fact that we are conscious could very well be a grand illusion. Consciousness of the self is the only thing we can be absolutely certain of), and consequently, reality lies buried in the conscious/subconscious mind?

I could go off on a tangent for a while, but I will conclude my introduction by saying that, while we can likely never know the true nature of reality, I have no doubt that entheogens are a form of medicine for the consciousness if not a gateway to blissful understanding of reality. My experience is limited, but soon I hope to break down the doors of perception.

Thanks,
Mike

Weird name, granted. I always have "Quantum" in account names, so I was trying to come
up with something that worked acceptably well

Hello, I have been a mod of these forums for many years & may ask all questions pertaining to the site. I may include some of my services to provide you with membership. I can allow you full membership if you follow along with what I say. You can't leave before I'm done saying what I'm saying, you have to know that the words I'm saying have a very important meaning, a meaning which is too important to not be mentioned, and I shall mention it to some French history teacher that decided to abandon the introduction to his lesson & go back to Europe to gamble some more. I just know that they would want to know why he would decide to leave his class & not teach any longer. I know the teacher has many people waiting for him to be asked many things about forgetting to attend to them. He wasn't reluctant to decide to leave either, he accepted it as without any hesitation. He wanted to hesitate, he needed to hesitate, but he didn't hesitate. We all saw him didn't we? My friends and I were watching him when he hesitated to make a remark, and I was about to ask him if he would be willing to explain more of it with us in the back. Though we weren't sure if he would push the question, he was doubting that it would be important to ask & was indifferent to most of it.

I hope I didn't come off sounding pretentious in my introduction! I just wanted to introduce myself on a deeper level so you all get a sense of who I am and why I'm here. The dark side is exciting!
