First attempt already got questions

So I am attempting my first grow using evilmushroom666's BRF cake tek, found here: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15223324/fpart/1/vc/1 and I have a question, the pot that I'm using to steam sterilize the jars is too small to fit all five of my jars in, so I'm left with one on the sideline, and my question is this, if I don't sterilize this jar right now, could I do it latter with no adverse affects or should i just sterilize it in its own pot? Also the vermiculite I'm using is a very fine grade, is that going to cause me troubles further down the road? I've been lurking on this site for quite some time and just decided enough is enough and to try it myself, I'm hoping that my first attempt will be a successful one, and I look forward to sharing my progress with all you guys here on the forum.

Yes you can do them in 2 runs, and yes fine verm is ok.
Fine verm is actually recommended for pftek.

As long as you sterilize your cake within about 24 hours it'll be fine. I wouldn't let it go longer than that.
Fine verm is just perfect.

So when I birth my cakes should the top of the cake also be covered in mycelium? Like the part that the dry vermiculite was covering? Thanks

I used that tek as well with good success. After birthing you will want to gently scrape off the dry verm layer, because that was your contaminant barrier. Dunk for 24 hours and roll in verm then place into fruiting. Let consolidate at least one week, longer for more potent fruits, and fruit them bad boys.

You want to let them consolidate before birthing, dunking, and rolling, not after.
Just clarifying....

yea, i consolidated them for 10 days before birthing. So underneath the dry vermiculite layer there should be mycelium?

Yes if you were to scrape off all of the top verm layer directly after birthing than grain underneath should be completely colonized aswell.
Most of us dont get all of the verm off though lol. Its near impossible even after dunking for 24.
