Weird cakes…. Ditch em?

Hi, I have some cakes that have taken very long to cultivate…. I am currently dunking for a fourth flush on my first ever cake and the other two jars just recently became fully cultivated. However, one of them has a very small red spot amongst the white, and also both cakes seem to have significantly shrunk in size…. I was wondering if it could be some sort of contaminate and want to make sure before I go any further I will upload pics as well. Also, there is some sort of weird gooey yellow substance on the same cake the red is on… first pic. Second cake doesn't seem to have anything funky of this sort. Your help is greatly appreciated I just wanted to know for sure, and as soon as I could so i could get this started if I still can!

1) I don't see the red 2) those are the wrong jars 3) the shrinkage is normal 4) the yellow could be metabolites, which really isn't something you NEED to worry about

now I see it... ditch that one
The tall jars take longer to colonize, which can give contams a chance, plus they have a tendency to stall out.

taller jars have a tendency to stall out? i have never heard this yet, but that is alarming considering i just bought a bunch of tall wide mouth 1/2 pint jars like the ones in the pic. i figured tall and skinny would take less space in an FC, thereby making them superior to the short-fat 1/2 pints

i see the red in the top left above the yellow keep it in the jar and isolate it looks like lipstick mold starting! As for the wrong jars i disagree i use pints to me they pin better than halfs because the surface area on the cake is larger! I even started stackin my half pints and in doing so ive seen an increase in the size of the fruits the half pints stacked actually produce even larger fruits than the pint cakes do! Shrinkage is normal gigitty and it ALWAYS takes a long time to completely colonize the pint cakes with the shortest time for me taking 3 weeks! Hang in there youll be ok just watch that dam red one dont birth it yet.

I think that the tall jars are just fine , just make sure your substrate is very airy and not packed at all and you have proper moisture.
I have made many cakes in the tall jars without a problem. If you do get a small spot that doesn't colonize fully after consolidation, just wash it off when you rinse them before a dunk. The un-colonized part should rinse right off.

And it does save space i dont double stack those ones though! PC the red jar to kill it to safely remove indoors!

I currently use the tall jars. I have found tbat if I fill the jars real loose and then put them away and not mess with them while they are colonizing they are fine. The more you pick them up to look at them the more compact your sustrate will get, and then they stall.
That's a tall cake in my sig.

The tall jars and all jars compact after PC'ing them! I've had 2 cakes i did nothing with after i knocked up about 30 jars. One tall pint and another half pint(short). I opened it to toss it and I wanted to know if the myc did it or the PC and it was a cake after the PC! So its the Pressure cooker that pressurizes the cakes a lil, enough to be pulled out and tossed around without breaking. Even if I fill the jars super airy they turn out the same!

Gravity: It is not just a good idea, Its a law!
I used the tall half pints when I started. All of them failed because I had to keep playing with them (I would imagine this to be the cause).
