Hey everyone!
I've been lurking for a while now soaking up info for the past few months, but decided to post since I've finally started the process and have a couple of questions. I started up this hobby with a friend of mine, and we split the cost of supplies and equipment (including a PC), which made it fairly easy to hit the ground running. He and I also have a decent amount of experience in labs including undergraduate level microbiology and genetics so sterile technique is no stranger.
We inoculated 10 1/2-pint jars with P. cubensis on November 24, 15 days ago. In 5 jars we injected 1cc each of Equador, and for the other 5 jars we used F-Albino. At this point 4 of the Equador are fully colonized, and the last one is at roughly 90%, and the F-Albino are all at least 50% colonized. I know, I don't have pics... but I should hopefully have some up by tomorrow.
This is all great news, except this rapid colonization has created a slight hiccup in plans. He won't be able to go through with fruiting at his apartment because he will have company that doesn't know about this hobby around the time fruiting occurs, and he won't be there to care for fruits/prevent them from being discovered. We also live 3 hours away so transferring the jars won't likely happen until the weekend before Christmas. I had two main questions regarding this:
1. Will the jars all be OK waiting this long? Since the Equador and F-Albino are colonizing at different speeds how will this affect fruiting/harvesting times?
2. I won't necessarily have company at my house, but I still would like to keep this operation under wraps from my family living here so I'll be hiding the SGFC in my closet with a light and 12/12 timer. Will the SGFC get enough FAE this way or should the idea be scrapped? I have a box fan I could turn on and leave the closet door somewhat opened as long as my room door is shut. If the closet idea isn't doable we'll likely have to wait another until January to fruit.
I'm open to any ideas or suggestions, and I'll try to get pics up ASAP. Thanks for all the info and I'm glad to be posting here on the forums!

welcome to the shroomery.
1.for your ecuador jar's you could crumble them and mix them with a pasteurized coir/verm mix. that will give you some extra time to keep them in colonizing conditions.
2. i wouldn't recommend keeping a sgfc in a closet with the door shut. you want an open environment with no air flow for a sgfc. once again i would recommend crumbling your cakes and mixing with coir/verm. this way you could do a mini mono tub, you could keep the fruiting chamber in your closet with a fan running, pointed in the general direction of the tub.
a closed closet is probably the worst place for a fruiting chamber but a mono would preform a lot better then a sgfc in there.

A grow isn't something to stress about during the holidays with family. Just put them somewhere safe, and forget about it for now. Extra consolidation won't hurt a thing.

If you had tampanensis there would be no need for a sgfc mono. Just jars

the tough thing about cultivating is that you have to plan ahead carefully, especially since you don't know how long incubation/fruiting will take from batch to batch
