Shaking the Substrate?
    #19253150 - 12/09/13 11:05 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

it seems my Shiitake has accepted the rough saw dust substrate, but the mycelium remains mostly on the surface.

Should I shake the substrate in order to mix the mycelium all over and hopefully so improve the over-all growth? Advise welcome.

You probably shouldn't do that, but a picture would help.  How long has it been since you spawned it?

no do not shake the bulk substrate.  if it is properly hydrated and not contaminated the myc will colonize it.  growing shiitake is a long term process.  Be patient!

Thanks a lot, that helped me.

Next question: is there any place that has mycelium/spawn of many mushrooms, even those not found at other places often?

Looking for

- Tremella fuciformis
