I received a print from someone in a trade but it was from stonesun a while back and I used some of it to make a syringe since at this time I'm unable to work with agar. On November 9th I inoculated 5 jars of Rye Berries and have left them to colonize without shaking. I checked them every week or so and realized that they were very slowly colonizing like 5 percent colonized in 3 weeks so I shook 4 of them about a week ago and they have started to colonize faster. The 1 that I didn't shake is still at about maybe 10 percent colonization. I'm noticing some slight small single yellow coloring in a couple of the jars but they look nothing like some of the pictures I've seen on here of colonizing jars. Also I have them in a plastic bin because I have a lot of people in and out of my house and I don't want anyone to notice them and I don't have any space for them at all so that was the only place I could put them. I forgot to add that some of the jars that I shook up are at about 60 to 70% colonization. This is really my first time working with stone producers so I was wandering does this sound normal for ATL#7? At this time I can't post any pictures but I will find a way soon maybe borrow a camera if anyone absolutely needs a picture.

Pics would help a lot, but it could just be sclerotia forming.

Yea if I get a chance in the next day or 2 I will and I figured that the discoloring could possibly be a small stone but what about the colonization time? it just seems to be moving so slow and the myc in some of the jars have in just a few spots all at the bottom of different jars real light slow growing almost grey tinted myc that is kind of worrying me. When I shook some of the jars within 24 hours or so they started taking off fast but have reached a point where they seem to have really slowed down. I'm using a coin cut SFD silicon glued to the GE hole with silicon injection ports. How long does it usually take for ATL#7 to fully colonize a pint jar normally without shaking and how long if it's been shaken?

Since you're working with a MS culture, there's no telling. Generally they'll be slightly slower than Cubensis.

All my sclerotia attempts were painfully slow, but my temps are a bit cool, so maybe that is why. Sclerotia looks pretty freaky at first

Yeah, if you don't know what to look for you could definitely think you have a contam.

yea I knew that the myc would look a bit different and wouldn't be completely white but at this time a little over a month after inoculation I haven't seen any truffle growth at all except for a few yellowish brown colors forming against the glass on just a couple of the jars. I guess I was just expecting them to look more like yours pasty. Does anyone know how long it has taken for ATL#7 to colonize a jar from start to finish and all around how long does it normally take.

My ALT jars were very slow. I didn't shake them but they still took a couple months for full colonization. Stones were forming quite soon though, I had lots of stones in the colonized areas while the rest of the jar was still finishing. Probably didn't help that my wedges got stuck on one side of the jar and it took forever for the mycelium to get to the other side.
That being said, areas where the stones formed always had some crazy looking metabolites and brown mycelium in the area the stone would form.
