Is this normal?

This is my first attempt at trying to grow. I am using BRF & verm. It's starting to look really wet inside and I was just wondering if this looks normal? I'm keeping them around 77-78f and inoculation was about 3 weeks ago.

Yup. That's some great rhizomorphic growth there, by the way.

They look alright to me. Are those lids with filter discs underneath? Do you have a dry verm layer?

I actually went to school to be a surgical tech and had sterile procedure drilled in my head. I actually made the top myself with silicone and placed foil underneath each port. There is a layer of dry verm on top. I was starting to get a bit worried and have searched on here and online for several days now looking for pics of contamination. I'm usually a lurker, but this is my first forum I've even signed up for just so I could ask y'all if this was normal. This is my first attempt to grow. I was hoping to have some ready in time to give my father-in-law some for Christmas. (Thoughtful daughter-in-law huh? Ha)

Dry Verm layer is all you need in the neighborhood of contam prevention with brf/verm jars. I'd ditch the extra hardware.

I really do appreciate the feedback! I'm growing Treasure Coast, Thailand Koh and got B for free (because I follow thehawkseye on Twitter and he had a Twitter special). The TC has taken off like crazy the others are just sitting there and not doing much.

those tall 1/2 pints tend to stall because GE cant reach the bottom of the jar, because the brf settles and compacts at the bottom from being handled to much.
which is why the tek calls for these

This was all they had at my local store. I'll look online for those for my next batch. What do you do if they stall or is there anything you can do? Sorry for all the questions, I'm a n00b.

nah bro you did good no contams etc. if you cant find the shorties just after your next batch when you nocc em up put them up and try not to handle them so you dont cause settling towards the bottom.
they will work just dont touch em i know its hard to do when you are new

Some people flip them upside down, but I wouldn't recommend it. I honestly just toss them and start over. More times than not, it's a lack of gas exchange. As stated before, those larger half pints are known for this problem. You did quite well for a first time.

Don't flip them! All that will do is invite contams and invitro pinning!

I did 15 jars (5 for each kind). 4 did nothing and 3 look great the others have not completely stalled, but are very slow. I got a dry erase marker and out lined the growth so I could see how much it has grown. As someone said earlier to try to leave it alone, but it so hard when you're excited hehe. It's been 3 weeks and I was looking at them every day for a week and a half, but now I try to resist. Especially now that I saw the wet spots I was like crap! I really do appreciate all the info! Thanks for helping a girl out!

Ditch the lids/filters. Tall jars are already working against you to some degree. If your substrate dries out and it stalls, definitely toss them and focus on the healthy jars.

Dont ditch em!! If theres no contams they should finish eventually.. dont throw your hard work down the drain just yet unless theres obvious signs of contamination or something..
