So I know almost everyone has heard of the prepper movement. Be it a natural disaster, economic collapse, martial law, or doomsday. I believe in a life of self sufficiency and being prepared for disasters. Our country's (USA) infrastructure is rated a D- meaning our roadway's, bridges, etc. are eroding and in need of bad repair. Our economy is on the verge of collapse due to national debt and housing market and credit bubbles ready to pop at anytime. Not to mention the increase in major natural disasters in the past decade.
Where I live we have bad winter storms, and a devastating tornado season. This causes major power outages. In the past few years areas close to my home have gone without power for as long as 3 months. So I have started preparations over the past two years to keep my family safe if the need arises. These preparations range from power outages, pandemics, and rioting. Home security, equipment, and the learning and practice of skills that are just as important if not more than equipment itself.
I would like to use this thread to share links and personal knowledge for:
- Home security
- Personal Security
- Self Sufficiency
- Alternative Communications
- Alternative Energy

Some of my favorites:

People need to become prepared by becoming self sufficient and independent.
Here's a bunch of recipes I've found and collected into one document for a variety of different things, often times these recipes make bulk amounts of said thing:
