Have you Ever left a turtle in a walmart parking lot in washington?
    #19251723 - 12/09/13 06:28 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I was reminiscing about the origins of my two red eared slider turtles. One of them was found in a bucket at a walmart with a sign that said "feed me."

This was over 10 years ago, and a shot in the dark to start with, but does anyone on this forum happen to know anyone who did that?

Figured I'd try. Because it would be nice to put their mind at ease. Like, "that turtle you abandoned found a loving home and is alive and well."

And I really cherish the things, because they're going to live long enough to meet my future children.

Why leave them if you cherish them? And why acquire them to begin with if you can't look after them

I dunno if the OP was poorly worded or you read it too fast. But I'm keeping them!

You did a good thing! How long do they live for normally in captivity?

AHH I gotcha now.

Kudos for you man, that's so gracious of you, I'd do the same thing, I couldn't leave them there, every time I go into a pet store I always see Beta fish in those tiny 2 inch by 2 inch water containers, that hang over the edge of a bigger 10 gallon tank, because the betas can't be housed with other fish, if it was up to me I'd give every beta at least a 2 gallon tank with all the good things they need.

I only got one for now, in a 4 litre tank, sooo much better than those tiny holding cells they stay in.

Haha, I deserve no kudos. Back when it happened it was all my fathers decision to take it in.

He even went nuts with their aquarium. Its 100 gallons and has little floating islands my dad made. Had to put a divider in the middle recently because they started fighting pretty viciously as they got older

Whats fun is to get some goldfish and put them in the tank so they can hunt whenever they want. They'll randomly decide to go on a rampage and kill them all!
