Newbie Question Regarding Drip Shields
    #1924891 - 09/17/03 01:30 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

Question: I've grown only once before and this was at least 4 years ago via poor man terrarium. I'm planning on growing equador and Koh at the crib via PF method.

What I'd like to know is how vital is the drip shield in the fruit chamber???

I have this awesome rubber maid clear storage container (18 gallon) with lid that I'm planning on using as the fruit chamber. I'm planning on using the perlite ONLY method (with a little H202 in the water) as my humidification method. No bubble filters etc. etc.

What do you all think? What are the disadvantages here?

Set it up and run it on full humiderty, then see if its a problem.
One way to do it without a drip shield is to rub vasolene onto the inside of the lid, then water doesnt build up there into drips, but this makes it harder to clean between flushes.

As long as you fan it a few times a day, you shouldn't get alot of condensation build up on the lid. They say that there should be visible condensation but not enough that it's raining in your fruiter.
