That link is a bit misleading. Go with a 1000x-2000x microscope with a camera (i.e. digital imager).
Amscope makes affordable scopes and so does Omax.
If you can run Windows (side by side with a Mac or on a PC), get the free app Piximetre. It installs in French BUT runs in English.

With a basic microscope like the one you'll be purchasing for this type of study, a micro-manipulator isn't used. You'll control the mechanical stage instead using the forward-backward and left-right dials.

ended up with the AmScope 2500x with the digital imager. man the software that came with it is very functional! really cool options. definitely worth the money.
the scope its self is really well done the 3D stage is a nice touch, being able to manipulate the slide in nice slow steady way is gonna make life a lot easier!
are there any other accessories that I should consider getting?

Other needs: Immersion oil, reticle, stage micrometer measuring-calibration slide, slides, cover slips, and 009 razor blades.
Please review the site provided earlier

is there anyone that would loan me a stage micrometer? I don't think I can justify 70 dollars for something im only going to use once.

It has been mentioned earlier, but I just purchased an Omax and am very happy with its performance. For $249.00 Canadian you can beat the price....

The practical magnification limit on a light microscope is ~1500x. Quality scopes rarely attempt over 1000x, so beware ridiculous claims as many of these scopes are garbage.
