hey all i found these mushrooms in a field of wild grass grazing cows. im unsure of the species, and highly doubt they're cubes, but im still curious as to what they are.
picture included...
relevant facts: found growing in the cows patties white stem, white cap, with light brown/yellow center gilled mushroom, pinkish/orangeish gills no spore print taken, as no mushrooms were picked found in relatively shady areas, but not completely shaded. cap is about an inch across stem is very thin, 1-2mm best guess the stem appeared to be hollow, but im not experienced in checking that the mushroom did not bruise, or bruised very light brown (hardly noticible) (waited 2-3 min for bluing) as for the smell, smelled like a fresh mushroom as the entire field did =/

Are you sure about the gill color? Do a spore print and let us know what that turns up. If you don't know how to just take off the stem lay the cap on paper. Use one half black and one half white. If the the gills are pinkish/orange the black paper will help that show up better.Put a glass over the cap and wait anywhere from 10-60 mins and look to see what color you have for the print then post it. It will help alot in Id'ing your find.

gill color is negotiable, as it was approaching late evening in a shady area when i went hunting.
thanks for the info on how to make a spore print, unfortunately i already knew how, was just too lazy to do so.
or more to the point, i didnt want to pick an immature mushroom that isnt active. call me a tree hugger or whatever, but i feel bad about accidentally stepping on, or picking mushrooms which arent going to be consumed, especially when they havent reached maturity. weird no? c'est la vie

p.s. once again thanks for the info and help ledzep and newak. fun hobby i found myself in

Looking for mushrooms is turning out to be an adictive affair for myself as well. I need to get a digital camera so I can take pics of them in the field as well. I hate to pick them just to pic them haha. Those do look like some kind of Panaeolus though but the gills would be a darker color.Grey-brown-black somewhere in there. Some imature ones have lighter gills but pinkish-orange i don't think so.Maybe someone will say different. The spore print would be black as well. Good luck.

Those are Copelandia cyanescens. Yup. Texas ones, excellent, 5-star shroom rating for this.

You sure about that? Did you see this? >the mushroom did not bruise, or bruised very light brown (hardly noticible) (waited 2-3 min for bluing) If they didn't bruise blue I don't think they're Copes. Could be wrong though, you're the cope expert

Hi Gumby, those are Copelandia mushrooms... -100% certain those are Copelandia.
Hopefully we get other identification opinions on this picture though.

See the center regions of the 4 fresh caps, how they are a tawny brownish/orange fading, delicate orange color on the top of those caps..

What about the lack of blue bruising? Do they take awhile? Or only blue sometimes? That is a nice picture. Will make a good reference pic.

update guys
the bluing took a little longer than i expected, roughly 10-15 min before any noticible signs appeared. unfortunately its also a popular field, as theres trails, trash (i hate messy ppl like that), and other signs of people in the same field at different times. fortunately i managed to harvest some for tests, e.g. the bluing, printing when i get home, etc.
thanks again everyone, they do appear to be as greatone said, copelandia cyanescens. more pictures when i get home and can get them off the camera.
