so its been raining for four days now, going on five, all day and night. i went out in the freezing rain this morning and found LOADS of wonderful things. i am unsure of a couple of them and i have some Agaricus sp that im not 100% sure on. any help is greatly appreciated #1) i am unsure of these.

#2) i think are G.penetrans behind some (Tremella mesenterica) Witch's Butter
 #3) Amanita.....citron?? it had a yellow/green tint

#4) Agaricus campestris ???? no yellow staining that i saw, but im just paranoid

and here are just some pics to look at if you're bored thanks everyone

my favorite and the sum of my efforts

First one is a Hypholoma sublateritium The amanita looks like A virosa or a close relative.

Might be Amanita bisgorigera, though the photos are too small to be sure. Do you still have the specimen?

any confirmation on the Agaricus? i have cleaned them, sliced them and cooked them. they look and smell amazing but i just read that Amanita bisgorigera is reported to be a very good tasting mushroom as well... i'd really rather not throw out more good mushrooms on a count of paranoia. but i am a fan of breathing and would like to continue practicing that

thank you, ill try that and see whats up. i think im just going to try a small "Agaricus" and save the rest for the morning...if their is one...lol, im pretty confident but i keep flip-flopping because of my lack of experience. sorry to keep bugging everyone about that one, i've just wanted to try that particular Agaricus because the store bought button mushrooms were my favorite food growing up (still is). which also brings me to this question...i used to eat those mushrooms raw (and again, i still do) but i hear from everyone not to consume raw mushrooms...why are these different? or are they....?

The Smell is important with some agarigus. Some of the toxic ones smell like Phenol kind of metalic chemically smelling. I'd eat it. The worst it will do is make you puke then youll feel better I'd try it. Just a small portion. then wait and then if all is well try a bit more. But beaware There is also a thing called Psudomushroom posioning..That where you get it in your head you fucked up and start getting sick. I know some people though that can eat all the Agaricuses and then I know another that can't even tollerate the store bought ones. I think it a good one to toadstool test. As far as consuming raw ones well some are ok but as a rule you should always cook your shrooms. I would cook any wild Agaricus. A lot of things that might make you sick are dystroyed when the mushroom is cooked that is another reason they say to cook your shrooms. It all depends though on species

tell me about it... i have been feeling real edgy lately and these past two days of mushroom gathering have done a lot for me. like a quick reset. back to my good mood again i appreciate the kind words! i went out again today and found SO many more Agaricus.... its not even funny. knees hurt from picking all morning, back hurts from stooping over my sink for literally a little more than 3hrs cleaning them and my stomach hurts from eating so many mushrooms while i was picking them this morning. i felt like i was in a strawberry patch except they were mushrooms lol.

i've been avoiding being out because its damn cold and windy and its making me CRANKY. i pulled a muscle between my shoulder blades a couple weeks ago that finally seems to be going away, that actually did make me cranky and probly accounted for the snarky tone in a few posts.
don't get me wrong, i like to be snarky, but usually on purpose.
i made stew yesterday and forgot (of all things) to pick up some at the store so send me some of those fuckers so i can add em in today! looks like you got enough to share! you're lucky your wife likes them. my gf does not, and doesn't appreciate it when i try to sneak them in stuff i make for both of us.

yeah, ive got plenty to go around! she only likes to eat them...not hunt, not help carry, not clean, not prepare...just eat them lol. i cant wait to get a hunting partner in april when i move. it will be nice to get out there and not be all by my lonesome miles into the woods although, it is really nice to just get away from humanity for a little while.

well.. ummm.. one out of five ain't bad?? lol luckily my gf does (so long as its not every damn time or too far) like to go hike and is good at spotting too. Just so long as the footing is good lol. But she waits patiently while i scramble down a ravine and back, and its probably good to have one of us intact at all times.
ya, hopefully xsketch will still be looking come spring and we can get out a couple times together, that would be fun.

no doubt. its kinda hard for me and my wife to get out at the moment because of the little one 2 years old and just loves to run around and destroy every mushroom he can get to first lol. another year or so he will be hunting with me tho, and a little less destructive i hope ... speaking of the devil you hear from sketch recently Rural? havent seen him 'round these parts lately.

ya, two is right at that "too big to carry, too small to leave go" stage. won't be long though!
i have not seen x post lately. that said, we're in for a long cold spell. its going to 'warm up' to thirty next weekend. hopefully he's just resting up for spring foraging and seeing how the voting on his conk is going before he makes an appearance.
come on solstice! lets turn that corner!
hopefully you'll warm up a lil too and with all that moisture, be finding a slew of stuff for us to look at.
