Sorry, but a business license in washington costs me 80 dollars for state license and another 60 for the city license. You might want to check to make sure your 20 dollar business license is legit. We both live in washington.
My licence is a certified WA state business licence with UBI# from the state government website. Cost me $21 total. Maybe because I'm in a rural area it was less, but it seemed pretty unanimous.

Damn, I guess I feel cheated! What kind of business license is it? Reseller? Manufacturer? Agriculture?

It says it's just my sole proprietorship with the 'NAICS Definition: Mushroom Production' Whatever that means, I think it's what I actually typed in when I applied.

As for insurance, my farmers market does not require it. If I found a market that required me to have insurance, I'd go find different one... Being prudent however, I looked into it and Farmers was willing to give me 1 million in product liability for $35/ month.
Bottom line, keep it small-medium, and don't put up with any bullshit.
Edit: Come to think of it, the WA.gov website has changed, and I cant find the rout I used to get my licence, so they may have changed it..

I can't find the exact wording of the claim, but it seems as if it's a case by case basis. It was just a claim, so I didn't get to many details unfortunately.

Again I think it depends on the state. I know here in Utah we have never been asked for proof of insurance at the markets.

Also depends on the specific market and who's running it, here it can go either way

Usually the more pronounced markets here require it while the smaller, less popular ones do not. But i have definitley heard many people say they didn't need it in the us and in canada.
