san pedro pup

One of the cacti I planned on cutting up is sprouting a tiny pup. Is there any way to keep the pup if I saved a few inches of the cactus?

It's hard to see... Of the 3 columns I got, this one just seems to be going downhill. Wanted to dry it before it starts dying or soemthing

The other 2 look very healthy and have 2 nice pups growing from them. This one isnt looking too well.

Yes you can leave the last few inches and let the stump root and grow.

Unfortunately, the chances are that it will dry out and die before it roots. It's already very dehydrated, and when you cut it and expose a large portion of the flesh... Well, since you were planning to dry it anyway, there's no harm in trying.

I didn't take that into account.  But I hear what you are saying.

Wait wait wait...

I have succees to root few centimeter seedling and saved it from root rot. Diameter was below 1cm and lenght was ~2cm or so. I cut rotten root away, left the top small section to table and it has been put out a root.

There is still better way to take cutting and think about the size, but I have successfully root below 1inch long and half inch thick cuttings. If they success they can root in one week.
