Frame out a 4x8 or larger space in either a basement or room using 2x4's and screws. use MASONARY Plastic to coat the inside (and out depending on your goals), Frame a spot for a Hepa furnace or air filter add fan and radiator heater wah la, custom grow tent that's not a total PAIN made with plastic pvc garbage. can be reused far more times than a 200$ tent, and all your need to do is replaced plastic flooring after a year or so of walking around on it if your care, phuck it.
this will allow you to put the "tent" in any room, even your garage or attic without the worry of insulation (masons plastic kicks ass), and if your looking for something more stealthy, use paint and plywood on the outside
I'd also use it on any single pain windows if your live in a cold ass environment!
This way your have the freedom to set it up how you wish and keep it super super clean
Sorry no pics, but google would could prolly offer a few of what im describing.

Plywood door with plastic, padlock, and weather stripping will be the best entrance. What's your goals for security?

Just choose a corner of the room, find a stud and build off of that or build a movable less permanent one all by itself if your renting or w/e and place it in a corner. use the same idea as the outdoor tent, ie add roof and full plastic throughout, Hepa filters are not as cheap as poly fil, but i find they last several months and are far easier/solid part of the structure and a breeze to change. of course you will need to make some modifications according to your goals of size and style (ie, using it for a martha FC or just monotub controlled storage) I would always add padlocks but i overdo shit. gauges and lights are a breeze to hang and work great on criss crossed monos. fan on low near the filter, I use 2 large filters top and bottom to move the air around rather than let it get stale.

Word,
What type of work are you doing? High explosives or biological chemicals? I used to build tents for some guys in cali, I have done several of them for a number of uses, again it's all on what you are looking to accomplish. This masons plastic method (Staple cardboard to plastic and ductape) WILL be your best cost and most effective method if your not trying to reflect light.
You can add a still air entrance etc, it's all about how creative you are, but even more important is what you want. That of course is related to the work your doing, building a small lab i would use the same principles, but i would use plastic or rubber flooring and finished wood or steel tables, shelving, etc
Maybe someone else will be able to assist you better with their own photos, or if you have any specific questions I might be able to help with just let me know! Best of luck!!

You have the right idea, research what your looking for.
I'm a carpenter, just build what I need for what I need, if it was me add a hood, shelves, work bench, and XM radio.
Don't build it out of cardboard boxes, pvc, and ductape.
Not trying to be rude, this shit is just second nature for me.
I just built a 25,000$ oak walk in closest, so it's all about how much you wanting to spend and want to accomplish.
I will say this, i'm not investing 25k into my walk in closet, I own 3 shirts that need hung, 1 suit and tie.
Vaulting a ceiling is child's play, question is do you need it for your wife's shoes and dresses? Some say yes, most do not

Just go to a hydro store and look at grow tents. Get a feel for dimensions that are comfortable for you.
I use a 3'x3'x6' tent. My chair sticks halfway out of it while I work in my SAB inside.
Ideally I would zip it up, but my tent is a little small and the heat it retains is ridiculous. I can still work with my lid off of my SAB and knock up bags with zero contam issues.

It's not very complicated man. Just build an enclosure, wrap it in plastic, work inside. slapphappypill has a thread about making your own tent too.

Hello Frank,
I would like to start by saying thanks for your plethora of valued information on this site, author of quite a few kickass threads that I highly value.
Your idea is correct, get a feel for what you need within available space. Problems faced with the tents which are from hydro stores are usually zipper related or they tear along seams of the pvc piping. Have you faced any issues such as this with your own tent?
Lots of work on dro tents has led me to hate mylar as it's hard on my eyes with bright lights and has me to confined, but for a dro gro they are quite nice.
plastic also likes to crack in the inside and fade off due to wear and tear, and yes you can't fit in there with a chair well and your body heat can make you sweat bullets all over your gear. Ever consider making your own tent from scratch, like the OP? You seem like you have spent a little (or lot) of time in that coffin! No offence you fucking rock, just wondering why you have not gone that route,
I actually use an empty closet on hardwood floor for lab work, built a little shelf and table works good.

I have not gone that route mainly due to the extra work involved. I'm terrible with wood and my buddy works at a hydro shop and offered me a great deal on some overstock.
I really like working in my tent, we have made great pals over the last six months
I use a small led strip light that is easy on the eyes. The reflectivity of the insides just makes it a little more bright all over, I like it.

Thank You!
Glad to hear that you got the kill deal! = EZ!
LED's are key, I also like to throw on my stunner shades, turn the disco ball, XM, and UFO's on and burn one in my old 8x8. Good way to end it all if your prone to seizures.
If you haven't already, I would use some good drink coasters on both the bottom of chair and table so your legs don't excessively wear holes in the tent. I had my tent for 3 years with heavy ass lights etc hanging, moving it several times before it started to to disintegrate lol.
I'm rolling back to the mycology world I believe, so Ill prolly see you around!
Cheers!

Look up SOG / Sea of Green -- Growery would prolly have some good info.

Highly Highly Highly Suggested !

I've built several tents, just informing you on the methods I WOULD use if I built a lab in my home (YES it would be made of plastic and wood), I however have built a room for my monos different specs obviously, Where I mix tubs and keep clean moving air.
Agar and g2g is done in my closet, without vaulted ceilings or a flow hood, all within a rather still air environment w/ closed door. Inside with glove box, chair, and small work table, it has done wonders for me. I would utilize available space far from register vent ie closet, I don't use it for hours a day or it would have vaulted ceilings, XM, w/ more space. I however do not need these pimp features yet. You however might want all of these, with shelving inset flush to wall, all cherry shelves trimmed and mitered. Again up to you on that on.
Could you post a pic of what your looking at, im curious. Although I don't know if ill ever come out of the closet... especially if i pimped it out, try explaining that to your girl.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Bond-Bloom-Greenhouse-Large/22660108 Not what I wanted but actually pretty great because it can be broken down for apartment inspections
Only flaw seems to be flimsy shelves. Only things I think I will have in there are petri dishes and my LFH which will have its own stand
One question , If I leave my LFH in there on , do you think it would clean the air outside of the GH decently had it been opened all the way

No.
Either work in still air, or close up the tent and use the flowhood. If you leave it open with the flowhood running, you're just recirculating shit from outside the tent.

For when I work in it of course
I mean when Im not using the LFH for work will it still be able to scrub the air in my grow room without having to re position the LFH or ten

Your grow room won't be "sterile" even with that hood running in it 24/7. Nor does it need to be. You're just going to wear out your blower faster.

Obviously , Ive been told this a ton of times and people seem to think I dont get it
I know That I will never be able to achieve true lab sterility in my house , that doesnt mean I cant try to keep it as clean as possible
I have pretty bad allergies so regardless itll help , I have also planned to have 3 inches of prefilters to ensure that my hepa filters stay good
This is just my preference I know Its not needed , but to be honest im tired of people trying to talk me out of my opinion , why not help me achieve my goal , rather than try to derail me .

Help me with what? I no longer have contamination problems now that I am properly pasteurizing my substrate I just want one for convenience
Edit: plus Ive been growing for a year , Ive decided it a hobby I like , I have moved into an apartment so I have a separate room for it , why would I skimp on a LFH when i pay like 400+ a month for a hobby room

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's going on here.
I can see why one may want to put a SAB in a tent. But, I don't know why one would need to put a LFH in a tent.

I assume your goal is to grow a lot of mushrooms, which won't be helped by you running your flowhood in your grow room all the time. It's pointless.
The flowhood running 24/7 won't make up for shoddy procedures. It's a waste of electricity and a good blower. And it won't keep your room clean like you think it might.
And did you just accuse me of trying to derail your thread?

My goal in building this is to have the toys I want.
For the last time I know this will not make up for shoddy procedure.
Why does everyone assume I have shoddy procedure? Just cause I want an organized separate space with an LFH?
Yes I've had contam problems in the past but I have stated numerous times on numerous posts I have not had a problem since proper pasteurization
No its not a waste I have bad allergies and an aversion to dust , I am more than happy to PAY for HEPA filters to reduce this , Its not like I dont already spend other measure to try and reduce airborne contaminates for my own health .
Im not expecting a clean room for the last time , Im expecting it to help a little if ant and have piece of mind .
I have posted questions numerous times and instead of people helping me achieve what I want to achieve they try and convince me my goals are BS I should not get a LFH or do the things I WANT to do with MY MONEY .
No you did not derail the thread , but Im tired of people trying to derail me .
It seems like this forum has turned into a bunch of people competing and pushing certain teks and ways of thought as though they are the only way

It's kind of like when someone want's to learn guitar and wants to buy a $5,000 one to start. Or feels the need to have all stainless top gear blichmann made setup for the first homebrew. I say buy it once you deserve it not once you can afford it.
By all means waist your money, but don't expect us to support needless spending, most of us don't like our governments for the vary same reason.

By all means waist your money, but don't expect us to support needless spending, most of us don't like our governments for the vary same reason.
This is stupid
Who are you to say what I deserve
its waste , not waist
Who are you to concern yourself with my spending
Im not a government I dont take your money .
Im buying one , deal , help me or gtfo.
I asked for help making it , not to see if it the right life decision at the time.

please be nicer to your peers or you will find yourself with nobody helping you with anything. lots of people here are giving you great advice, you can either take it or leave it, but if its not something you want to hear you don't get the right to be abusive to my friends.
all in all play nice or nobody will want to play with you.

don't post in a public forum if you don't want advice from a range of different people with different opinions. Disregard what you don't want to hear, but I'm putting it out there for you, and everyone that might happen to also be reading this.
I'm wholeheartedly sorry I accidentally used the wrong spelling of a word. I would hope the context of the sentence would give it away, but I digress I'm stoned and this isn't a term paper.

for realz...
The only person that can make you angry is you, because of how you chose to feel and react to your experience. Every second is a second chance to be someone better. I prefer to trust in myself, which makes it incredibly easy to deal with all sorts of experiences, and has made my life astonishingly awesome.

You have got to be kidding me
I was trying to educate him , we live in a world where people can't spell, I was not trying to be rude , I myself was a horrible speller until I noticed people always correcting me .
Personally I don't want any advice that tells me not to do something like buy a LFH , I asked for help and all the while now I have to tell you its not your business if I do it or not.
This thread has gone to shit , all because It couldn't be accepted I am building a LFH in a tent .
I'm still going to do it , now I just have to start another thread another time to try and get the answers there .
Sorry if I came off rude , but it is very frustrating when you are trying to find answers to have people just tell you that you basically shouldn't be asking the questions.
Which does nothing to help answer my questions

i think when people are discouraging you to buy A LFH its because its expensive and if not used in conjunction with proper sterile technique it wont help at all. i suggest getting a few grows down using a still air box. if your have success rates over 80% that means your sterile technique is coming along and perhaps looking into a LFH for more advanced inoculation techniques might be appropriate for you.
i appreciate you apologizing. i know everyone here in this thread is here to help you buy giving our honest opinions and advice. if you have any further concerns please feel free to PM me personally and we can chat it out.

Alright joking aside. Let the advice you don't want to hear roll of your shoulders then, or stay off of the forums until you get some thicker skin. We're not trying to hold you back. Go for a LFH if you want, but we offer real world solutions and advice here. The advice brought forth is for people reading this other than you too. In general I would advise against spending all the money you are because of the reasons we all have already stated, but no one is saying a LFH is a bad idea, just not practical for your situation. Owning a 650HP Porsche isn't practical, but it's someones cup of tea. Perhaps a LFH in a tent is your cup of tea, but no one here is going to say go for it in your circumstances.
