Last Gold Oysters of the season:
Out of 7 buckets, I only got this one cluster, just too damn cold out...
Ate them in scrambled eggs with some shaggys I found in the yard! Delish!

Tristan strain I'm Tristan, I guess Amanita named the king culture I gave him after me.
It really is the best king strain I've seen, and I've tried at least 8 common commercial cultures. Glad it's working out for you.
yeah the strain is nice; I've been getting massive fruits off of it. Multiple times ive got 1 mushroom that weighed 1lb.

Reishi bag. Seems to be coming along ok.
SRA on grain. The mycelium on this on is sick.
I was hoping the purple on the blewit myc would show in the pic but it really doesn't but here it is next to SRA.

Beech harvest; 1.25lbs in 2 clusters with a 2-3 week shelf-life. Actually so far no other mushrooms(that we have tried) has touched the shelf life of these.
And here is a picture of the lab; about to inoculate.

I can see the shelf life being great on those, they're so dense and crunchy. Care to share your secret? My harvests are terrible, got one big mushroom once. Usually get like 2-5 mushrooms per bag. Can't figure 'em out for the life of me Just how cold are you keeping 'em? Different temps for colonization/fruiting?

I incubate for 4-8 weeks, use %20bran with oak pellets, cut X's in the bag or top fruit. Keep them fairly moist; similar to oyster. Also I have grown them in the 50's and 60's temp range, but I have a feeling they'll fruit in the 70's too. This is a strain I cloned from the market; so maybe try a new strain? I tried a different strain a year ago and did not get the consistent results im seeing now. In general I always try as many strains as possible before switching up my grow parameters, because maybe I'll get lucky and find a shroom that likes what I do (and I usually do.)

That's a good idea, I think it is time to play with another culture. Good to know about the incubation time as well, thanks!

This is off topic, I know, but versicolor, how did you get your name? I just ask because that is the scientific name of a type of tarantula, and I love tarantulas!

I'm going to guess and say it's from Trametes versicolor, the turkey tail mushroom? Could be from the pink toes though lol! I also dig T's, I have a Venezuelan Suntiger, I can't wait for her next shed, she'll be huge!

Yeah, it was based on the turkey tail mushroom, the reason I found this site.

Would there be any chance of a trade or something for this culture? I have tried at least 3 clones without success.

Yeah, it was based on the turkey tail mushroom, the reason I found this site. It wasn't until later I found out it is also a skin condition. That's funny, but hey, it's also quite a beautiful tarantula! Look up avicularia versicolor.

If you wedge one out, I suuuuuuuure could use one too (hint, hint) Not sure I have anything you'd need but I might!
