Hey fellow cultivators I am 6 weeks into my first pf tek grow. So far so good, until two days ago when I noticed some blotches of trich, on one of my four recently birthed cakes. Luckily this contaminated cake was secluded in its own FC since its birth, so to be clear the other three cakes where birthed and placed in a separate FC, and those three cakes look healthy and appear to be contaminate free... I unfortunately left the contaminated cake in the secluded FC right next to the other one and I was fanning and misting both tanks at once... I am super stressed out that my other three cakes are going to become contaminated because of possible mold spores too close by. Do I need to disinfect the room now, what should I do about this, is there anything that can be done to increase the success of these other cakes. Are they fairly resistant to the mold since they are healthy, or are they screwed? I took the contaminated cake out of the grow room and put it outside, please tell me im stressing out about this.... It has just been so long for these babies to go bad because of a rookie mistake. Thanx Guys!

fully colonized sub is contam risistant. if your cakes are fully colonized they most likly will not get contaminated before the first flush. are you sure the cake was contaminated? maybe it was just bruising. pics speak man. also there is no way you could disinfect an entire room.. the only way to increase the success of your other cakes is to make sure you fallowed the tek to a T.

Dont even bother burning it
Throw out trich immediately, it will infest your other stuff in the FC, your house, you too
But fully colonized cakes are very contam resistant... just watch out for 2nd and 3rd flush they are less resistant there....
Never spray cakes directly, mist the sides of the FC, then fan
I wouldnt get too paranoid about one cake, just get it out of the house quickly and keep it all clean
If you have one trich cake in your FC you will be spreading millions of spores when you fan the FC.. in the whole house
(btw it is very normal for cakes to blue a little, that is due to rough handling i.e., check that isnt what it is...)

Relax man. Eventually, once your myclieum is spent, contams will happen. Its how you know that your cake/tub is done. However, until then, a fully colonize caked is contam resistant and will produce flushes so long as conditions and moisture permits. I almost guarantee, since birthing, all have been exposed to trich. But a fully colonized cake provides no viable surface area for a contams to get started.
The bigger concern is why did that one cake produce trich. Had it produced a couple flushes, at least, yet? A new cake should not weaken until at least after the third flush if dunked at a birth and then again after the first flush, per spec.

Thanx for all of the advice guys… I will be posting pics asap, I also have 12 jars of ecuadorian and F+ incubating as we speak almost fully colonized! I was just stressing out because I read post on here about how contagious trich is and my grow room is small and like i said I have a total of 18 jars in three tanks at various phases of the growth cycle and I made myself paranoid with all the nigthmare posts. To answer your question the contaminated cake was most def. Trich, I know because there was no mistaking the forest green patches of mold. It looked nothing like bruising, but the trich was present during the final week of consolidation I still birthed the jar and secluded it to its own FC and cut off the Trich but, as usual it returned and like a dumb ass I was fanning the two tanks and misting right next to each other. The cake had never began the fruiting stage it was contamed before consolidation. (It was the only one of 6 jars of cambodian p.c. that becaome contaminated and they all incubated together in the same FC... That is why i was concerned that my rookie mistake may have cost me my other cakes… Thanks for putting my mind at ease guys, ill keep you posted on updates on the grow.

If there's ever a question, leave it in the jar until you know for sure. In vitro pins will still grow normally once birthed, so dont worry about them.

ok thanks man, I will take that advice. I was wondering what to do about another situation, I have 14 cakes almost fully colonized and they where knocked up on 11/23 They are almost done colonizing but I am going on vacation on Jan 5 for 7 days and I dont know if I should leave them in the jars and let them consolidate for two and a half weeks and birth when i return or birth before I go? I dont wanna neglect the first flush due to my absence, but I also do not wanna lose the jars to contams or rott before birth due to sitting in the incubator too long. Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreiciated!

You can put them in the fridge to slow the growth
