panaeolus foenisecii, an annoyingly common mushroom. I was reading up on them and found that some mycologists found that it contains serotonin and 5-htp. being a person with social anxiety, this could definitely help. My question is, are p.foes edible? do you think they could be used safely as a medicinal supplement? thanks!

They appear to be edible, at least according to this thread.
No idea on their effectiveness as a medicinal supplement. Let us know if you decide to give it a try.

Consuming serotonin does not increase levels in the body. However, 5 HTP crosses the BBB decarboxylates into seratonin increasing the levels.
I don't see the point in cultivating foes though you should be able to find more than enough hunting for them very easily. Unless you just want to do it more for fun.
Honestly there are much better sources. Why not just buy 5 HTP supplements?
Also, foes seem to upset most peoples stomach and can cause diarrhea. Just doesn't seem very practical IMO.

I don't think the OP mentioned or considered cultivating them, stating how "annoyingly common" they were
Good info though, and good point about the possible gastrointestinal problems
