ID on Agaricus, i think

i found these right next to a small duck pond, in grass. they were all growing in pretty much a straight line for about 20 ft or so. we had like a week or two of cold weather then 3 days of rain and 70 degree weather, now its really cold again. cap is smooth, slimy-ish when wet and kind of sticky when dry. veil remnants on the cap margin. 2-3in. gills were purple-ish/light brown-ish. not connected to stipe. stipe had veil. even in diameter all the way down, then goes to almost a point at the base. very white flesh inside and a nice, fresh, pleasant mushroom smell. about 2in. tall spore print is looking brown-ish but its only been printing for a short time and it is still pretty wet...

sorry for the crappy cell phone photos and thank you for any help.

It's definitely a red-staining Agaricus species. I believe that means it's poisonous? Can anyone confirm? I am incorrect about that last bit. Did your mushrooms stain yellow before they stained pinkish?

It's an agaricus, but red staining doesn't imply toxicity in this genus. It does with boletes, AFAIK, but certainly not with agaricus mushrooms.

All that does is help confirm it's an Agaricus.
If it's bruising red, not yellow, AND it smells tasty and not "chemical-ish" then it will be safe.

You should cut the stipe vertically, not horizontally, to check for yellowing at the base.

I cut it vertically today, thought I included that picture, sorry. No yellowing that I saw... ill make sure in the morning. How long should it take to bruise? Rather quickly?

If it's a yellow stainer it would stain bright yellow immediately at the base when cut.

I'd hazard a guess at Agaricus campestris.... but only if it has been quite wet near you...
I'm not sure of the technical term or reason but the pink in the gills can "run" almost like a dye. Every time I wash my wild harvest (not getting into a debate of how to clean mushrooms for eating!)the water turns pinkish red like the colour your bruising is.
The gills fade and leave the more brown colour of the spores.
