brf cake water, distilled, or tap?

When using the brf tek, I have not read any where what type of water to use when mixing your brf and verm... Should I use distilled water, tap water, or purified drinking water? Where I live the tap water is far from drinkable so I assume if its not good enough for me to consume, I dont think my lil guys would want any part of it either? So should I use distilled or purified?

Just trying to clarify regardless to what is in my tap I do not have to be concerned with my lc being contaminated ? And u r suggesting that purified water is a no go, I just saw a post saying no go on distilled based on the lack of nutrients

Definitely no on distilled, as its lack of minerals will leech them out of the mycelium. From what I understand, though, is that natural water is best. Personally, I recycle my water from boiling potatoes.

purified water is not distilled water...... to purify water you boil it.. to collect distilled water you boil it and collect the steam.

Ive heard distilled is great fr making spore syringes.. but might as well use tap water for jars for steaming/PCing!

Ok, so if I was to boil my tap water, how long do I need to wait for the water to cool off? I would assume I shouldn't mix my verm with boiling water, correct?

distilled water in cultivation should only be used in spore syringes.

Why would you assume that? You just need it cool enough to not burn yourself. You can mix it with verm as hot as you want- it'll cool off.

I am aware ofnthe deference, that why I said why not just use purified waterminstead of boiling tap?

So I could just boil my tap water, add it to the verm boiling, mix in the brf, jar it and pc it? No concerns as to the waternbeing to warm?

You don't have to worry about temps until after you sterilize. If you inoculate with everything too warm, you'll kill the spores.
Just be sure you don't burn yourself.

Darn, I was using Distilled water to mist the cakes and surrounding perlite to keep them hydrated, I thought it would be better since it is hopefully sterile and wouldn't harbor any contamination, but it's best to use regular filtered (with minerals still intact) or tap water for misting?

I used to get water from a nearby pond or swamp. Other folks have gotten water leached from a compost pile. These will have nutrients in them.
