Get an 8 pin extension cable and route that 8pin through the back too

It should route through the back side panel as it is, if it's not long enough it's because you have the power supply upside down, when it should be drawing air through the bottom of the case and ejecting it out the back.... It looks much cleaner and cable clutter increases your temps slightly.... also you have zip ties to use on the side of the case behind the motherboard, if you notice those little hoops, you can manage your cables on the other side much better, making them more flush with the case, which makes it easier to take on and off the side panel.

Anyways, grats on the build...

yah np, one other thing you might want if you have the option (not sure if the 550d has it, but my 650d does -There are mounting holes for the hdd cage over to the left closer to the PSU... you might be able to have dual intake fans, it looks like another 12mm would fit in there on the 550d.  (not my pic)

Yeah, this case has the dual fans. They came preinstalled into the case behind the 2 HD cages. You can kind of see the bottom one next to the case with all those wires. I already removed the upper one. Could I do something with the 1 HD if I remove that last bottom cage?

Oh nice, I do see it from the back pic. As in the pic I showed, you can probably move the bay closer to PSU for more airflow, but if you just want rid of it get yourself a 3.5" mounting bracket universal adapteor for 5.25" drive bay and put it up with the DVD drive.. They're real cheap, am sure you can get one off amazon for a few bucks.

Also you can get one of these things that takes a three 5.25" bays and can mount several hdds and has an additional fan.  They are pretty nice.  Some of the models even can put a couple SSDs on each side

Though actually taking a closer look at the 550D it looks like it has a solid closing front panel on it with some noise reduction foam, my 650d's front panel is different, there is no door, it is has a mesh panel in front of the hdd cage etc... Not sure how effective your fans are to begin with really, may not make any real difference.

now is the time to play your favorite game with overclocking.

I just installed a 40mm fan screwed into the NB HS, this is super loud

http://store.polkaduck.com/Dynatron-Top-Motor-DF124020BH-40mm-x-20mm-9000-RPM-12V-0.25A-Cooling-Fan-3pin-DF124020BA.html

Sensors indicate 9926 as max RPM

cools a stubborn NB.

That is a little beast. 11k rpm

I love fans.

Well, I think I've got some bad news. My i5 4670k is a below average overclocker.

I still need to do some serious stress testing before it's official, but so far, I OCed from 3.4GHz to 4.3GHz, a 26% increase. After messing around with a few different settings, I managed to find a stable clock using a core multiplier of 43x the default 100MHz base speed, and setting the core voltage to a static 1.250V.

No other settings have been adjusted just yet. I want to figure out this cpu cache ratio. From what I've gathered, it's recommended to have it 1:1 with the cpu clock speed. Right now the cache ratio is set to 38x. What I think needs to be done is raise the 38x to match the cpu core multiplier set at 43x. Is this correct? Also, because my cpu seems to be a below average OCer, it might be a good idea to keep the cpu cache ratio a few hundre MHz under my core clock, so somewhere around 41-42x...

Anything else I should know?

Oh, and my core temps have not even passed 65C.

Crud. Just BSoD'ed. :strokebeard:

Dropped core clock to 42x.

My guess is your vcore is too low, try 1.260....

Then again, here's somebody else's settings w/ same MSI board and 4670k

1.Set Core Ratio to "Dynamic" Mode
2.Set Both Core and Cache (Ring) Voltage Modes to "Adaptive"
3.Core Multiplier:43x
4.Core Voltage:1.18V
5.Processor Cache (Ring) Ratio:42x
6.Processor Cache (Ring) Voltage:1.155V

Hmmm... well I set the core voltage to 1.260V and that seems to working. I'm gonna give those setting a try as well.

noisy but tolerable with headphones

dude, I think your CPU has reached its max, intels are hella better than AMD, but sounds more complicated (am i in the right thread?).  Anyway you said you hit 4, so did I after getting BSOD'd and stuff saying basically core failed.  Easy way for me to see if i'm gaining performance boost is to run a simple Windowz Experience Rating, 3.8-4.2 still produced 7.4 CPU rating
