Treasure Coast Mono 1

This is a 105qt total monotub. The Sub depth is 3.5" which seems to work well. There are 26 qts to reach the 3.5" sub for this particular tub. I used a 50/50 spawn ratio, so there is 13 qts of grain and ~13qts of Coir/Verm. The tub has been in fruiting conditions for about a week since it reached 100% colonization. Now, knots are forming and pins are about a day away.
This mono is quite a big bigger than usual, but I was in the mood to experiment. Knock on wood, but it seems to be looking pretty good so far.
Feel free to comment.

The sub looks great but you have gone a bit off piste with the number of holes you have in the tub
Recommended is one 1 1/4" to 2.5" hole high on each width and 2 near the top of the sub on each length... also follow this oft posted link http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17332777#17332777

Eh, that's my preferred hole setup, but I think his setup could work great. Interesting condensation patterns around the top too
Let's see how it goes, looking good delta!

Surface looks a bit dry. Some misting may be in order.
With larger tubs, it's recommended to have a couple more holes.

TL, I took the picture right before I misted which is why it looks a little dry.
I just recently started using the liners so ill remember to remove the tape. I appreciate the tip Josh.

Technically they're the same thing. A cube is a cube, as it is said, but not all cubes grow the same. Nor do they express the same genetic traits from different areas of the world, though they come from the same ancestry.
Variety- 1. Intermixture of different things, or of things different in form; or a succession of different things.
2. One thing of many which constitute variety. In this sense, it has a plural; as the varieties of a species.
Strain- 7. Race; generation; descent.
8. Hereditary disposition.
That's how I see it anyways.

no strains are a single set of genetics, variety is a name given by a vendor, spores can have hundreds of "strains"...i could be wrong though

You're applying the wrong definitions to those words when we're speaking of mushrooms.
Within PS.C. there are many varieties of PS.C. PS.C. is the strain.

I've been wanting to convert my big 105Qt tubs into monotubs... but have been cautious. 13 jars of spawn is a lot to throw out if it all goes south. I think you'll be fine seeing your progress so far, I commend you for having the bollocks.
Cheers, I can't wait to see the results!

I'm so jealous - the only "variety" I have fruited is Albino A+, and it seems to take foooreeever for primordia to form and develop into pins. 7-8 days into fruiting, primordia form 7 days, 1" pins develop 3-4 days = harvest
Can't wait to try out a few other varieties that are currently in the pipeline...
Great job, bud. Keep us updated - looking forward to seeing this bad boy Xplode.

looks great man. its cold here too. and slows it down quick. if its on the floor, place a thick blanket under to insulate a little. I,ve been using a tit/ sgfc combination this winter, with an oil filled heater to heat the room around low 70,s f...probably the cold slowing it down...good luck there man

Yea, at my old house I used an electric heater to keep the room temperature around 70° ish. The furnace here is a LOT more efficient so the entire house stays pretty comfortable and the ambient temp at the tub stays in the high 60's to low 70's.
I'm hoping to have a lot more prints to toss out pretty soon...

Completely MS....I shot up a few jars from a print a little while back and did G2G from all of the "Masters" and have been working with those G2 and G3 spawn. Treasure Coast always gave me excellent pin sets.

Cause they look sooo much better with closed caps/ barely torn veil.
they look gross when you let them sporulate and fully open, imo
At least when they dry out.

Imo they look 10x more magical and cartooney when picked rigbt when or right before the veil tears.
I can't wait til the whole first flush is harvested, anxious for the weigh in!

I have to agree. I prefer them right as the veil is breaking or just when it is starting to tear. I'm not a huge fan of the flat or upturned caps.. plus they make a huge mess!
This was my favorite one out of the entire tub so far. Just a unique little It was turned the other way, but it keeps turning counter clockwise when I upload it.

I picked up those Fiskars while back and have ZERO complaints about them. I was actually walking through Walmart and stumbled on them for like $5 and I just couldn't pass them up. They're one of the better investments you could get for trimming.
I must say that the liners do work great. That's coming from someone who still does use Tin Foil on occasion, but that may be a thing of the past for me now.

I was strolling down the Clearance isle at Wal-Mart because they had some gardening stuff out and they had a whole display of Fiskar stuff. Jackpot! I think I was actually looking for a new mono that was on sale or something. You can't pass up a sale on a new monotub!

Thanks dude.
You can definitely PM me with questions or ask them here. Either way, that's why I put this log on here. This was something for fun to try out and it turned out pretty well! I had an estimate of 8oz and was over that, so I'm not complaining!

There were a LOT of them so that made up for their individual size. I crammed them all into the dehydrator which sucked once they were dry because were stuck together in random clumps. There's roughly a QP in each gallon Ziploc when it was all done.
