Found this little guy today. Been finding a few of these in the winter months and I'm still not sure exactly what they are. Universal veil, jagged ring around the base, colors range from light orange to deep red. Found in southern Mississippi on the side of a country road full of pine trees.

Nailed it The peach-colored cap and the (more) easily (than other variations) lost rings at the stem base are good indicators.

Agaric means: "a fungus with a fruiting body that resembles the ordinary mushroom, having a convex or flattened cap with gills on the underside" The title of your post would mean that you may have found and ordinary gilled mushroom, which is kinda funny because that's a kind of definite things, either you did or didn't. Very cool looking mushroom!

So would the "fly" in the nickname fly agaric refer to the larvae type of bugs that always seem to be in the stipes of the A.muscaria? And also, do Amanita species outside of muscarias have those larvae too? And are the larvae actually fly larvae or are they something else? Sorry, I don't mean to jack your post OP.

i believe its because they used to put A. muscaria in milk and leave it out in the barn to kill flies. I've read it a couple places and a park ranger on a myco tour said the same, but nobody says if it actually works. If it kills horseflies I might give it a go.
they probably had some wobbly cats and rats too

How would one best go about ingesting these? Last time I tried I took two big ones and made tea out of the whole wad. My vision turned to shit, I became extremely lethargic, and I suffered the worst cold sweats of my life. I felt straight poisoned. Any pointers. I'd like to try extraction next time around. And yeah, it's been pretty damn cold.

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18925908 thats an extraction Isms came up with. i would start on low, low doses and work your way up. the bad experiences, from what ive seen, mostly come at higher doses when ones not used to them... most people recommend half of a fresh cap to start with, then waiting 2 hours or so before eating the other half... Amanitas can be creepers sometimes

20gs wet or dry?
20g wet = 2g dry. Not that high of a dose.

Dry. Always. I'll try to post some pics of what I'm working with eventually. I have a dehydrator and whatnot. But yeah, dry. Highest I've done is 30. Never once had a bad time. I am in no way afraid of any psychedelic experience. I just need my body to function unlike last time I tried muscaria. That dose was around 20 g dry. I feel like it will be easier on my system if I extract.
